What can one say? I communicated with him a little after I reviewed his book (which is highly recommended, if you haven't read it): he seemed honest and accepting of how his life had changed in recent years (the book is searingly honest), still funny, self-deprecating, a little sentimental perhaps for the past but, it seemed to me, not in a way that was angry or regretful. It was good to be in touch with him again, and good to have known him.

RIP, a real legendary character.
-
Yeah, sad that.
-
Sad news. I climbed a fair bit with Andy and Patrick Edlinger in Australia many years ago - both now gone.
RIP Andy

Awful news. I recently finished his book - What a character. From interviews I've read he sounded like a real gem - such a positive guy.
-
Bloody horrible news.

Enjoy his pearls of wisdom from when he graced us with his presence.

That is sad news. A great climber, really led the line on bold climbing for a while.
-
Really sad news. R.I.P. Andy.

Sad sad news.

Andy was one of my heroes when I started climbing. The pictures of him on The Bells and Klinean Envy epitomised what I wanted to become as a climber. A very sad day for the climbing world.

Basher, the Bens (Boy Ben and Scottie Ben) and Jerry have organised a kind of memorial do/wake at the Mowbray, just down the road from the Foundry, on 1 December.
-
Really sorry that I'm not going to be able to make it. I'll be thinking of you all, and Andy.

Good interview with Andy recorded not long ago: https://thelayback.home.blog/2019/09/26/episode-8-andy-pollitt-it-was-a-wild-ride/

Received a request from Laura Plishko:
I am fundraising in Andy’s memory to support the Welsh Air Ambulance. Would it be at all possible for you to post a link to the just giving page? I realise that a lot of your members will of either known Andy or known of him and if anyone would like to donate a couple of pounds in his memory, I, David, Sarah and Lizzie Pollitt would be really grateful.
