Title: New hard thing on Am Basteir
Post by: Will Hunt on June 09, 2016, 10:47:16 pm
Thought this was worth a mention. Got to be one of the most stunning lines on UK mountain rock. How as Dave Mac (and the rest) not picked this one off yet?!

Would suit Maccy-D well, no chance of dabbing on that.

Great line and looked like cool moves too. Almost - for a split second - made me want to use a rope again *banishes such twisted thoughts from mind*

Not exactly roadside is it!

I wasn't aware his hard thing on the Cioch had been repeated and downgraded. That's a scary looking thing.

Seems like you get a grade or two for the walk-in. We did the Highlander to the right which would be steady E4 on any grit crag.

And I suspect Am Bhasteir is a bigger hike than Sron na Ciche.

we were discussing the line of chalked holds on the roof lip on Saturday whilst setting off on the VDiff (!) to the R as part of our Cuillin Ridge traverse..  turns out is was as hard as it looked

(although the bigger news was perhaps us two boulderers managing the traverse!   :o )

I don't remember the Tooth presenting any major difficulties compared to the horrendous TD Gap

Nice work, looks like good climbing. Does that mean Jules Line's route in CSD is only E4 then? (just about the remotest hard route in Scotland I can think of!)
