Time to start gradually losing the excess weight ready for Sendtember
Current weight 11.8
Target 11.2
Achieved by: no home drinking and cutting out bread, chocolate, cheese and biscuits
Anyone else?
-
Yep currently 86kg get down to 80kg. Achieve by actually doing some exercise and not eating after dinner.
-
Yes, I have crept back up to 77kg partly because it has been too hot and sticky for me to want to go running and too much snacking before tea time.
So my aim is for 75kg for the end of the month should be do able with more aerobic work and less cakes and ice cream.
-
Achieved by: no home drinking
your local is going to make a fortune!
-
gulp
I know, I know - always talking about it, never doing it
people keep telling me that if I were to lose 3 stone and climb more than 3 times a month then I might be able to get up stuff - at the very least, my skin would last a lot longer
current weight 14.11 (pretty pleased with this)
realistic target 14.0 (when the grit is called)
No self harming with Greggs. Refuse the office cake table. Generally eat less fat and sugar.
-

Yep. But dog will get some exercise and so will I.
-
My deadline is a bit different, since I have a trip in October..
Current: 11.11
Goal (by start of Oct): 11.4

Has Tourette boy been calling you a fat cunt as well?
-
Its a bit of a tossers app I think but I've been using my fitness pal.
I find it has stopped me walking to the shop next door for doritos and maltesers when I feel a bit peckish, and general snacking.
Hence 73kg down to 68.5-69kg
Did have an intimidatingly sized bratwurst for lunch today though, that might wreck the stats.
-
Current weight 11.6
Target 11.0 (10.99999999 would be even better!)
(I got down to 11.2 pre wedding last September so I know this can be achieved..)
Achieved by:
Limiting myself to only sporadic drinking
Reducing meat and fatty things
Starting smoking again (a drastic option I'll try and avoid)
Its a bit of a tossers app I think but I've been using my fitness pal.
I find it has stopped me walking to the shop next door for doritos and maltesers when I feel a bit peckish, and general snacking.
I found this quite useful for just tracking calories imbibed/burned... MrsTT had a go with it too and thought she was doing really well until I pointed out that males were supposed to have a higher calorie limit than females.... It then got binned :)
-
Hoping to be useful to everyone and not to make Alex angry, here's an article that i found interesting.
It's about "stubborn" fat, but has good info.

-
I'm in but like Alex I'll target October in pursuit of a decent Frankenjura Autumn season.
Currently 81 target 77.
To be achieved by: long days out on the Alps in August; no afternoon snacks at work; no evening snacks after dinner at home
-
Goal: be less tolerant of skinny cunts with lean honed bodies moaning about their so-called weight.
Progress: going well so far reading this thread.
-
Has Tourette boy been calling you a fat cunt as well?
I'm calling myself a fat cunt whilst above 10.10...
-
Assuming Bishop in Nov happens, then my two goals are:
Current - 171lbs, 78kg, 12.3 st
Mid-Sept - 167lbs, 76kg, 11.13 st
Mid Nov - 162lbs, 73.5kg, 11.8 st
So let the August Lardbegoneathon begin!
-
Goal: remain the same weight - 10.7 stone (68Kg) - as I've been for the last 20 years.
Current: 10.7 stone.
Goal achieved. Think I'll take the rest of the year off.
:tease:

I'm 11.7 with about 5 pounds to lose but will only diet if I get to redpointing on my proj.

The day you turn 40 you'll immediately put half a stone on. Something to look forward too ...
-
So, Day 1 of Lardathon training... forgive me for I have sinned...
Yesterday - twas good day at the Tor in the morning - healthy lunch, healthy tea... go out for 'one' with MrsTT and her friend... I'm persuaded to stay for another - friends husband turns up... We roll back in about midnight after a skinfull and I demolish a family size bag of crisps :D
Lager & Lard 1: TomTom 0

76 kg goal 76 kg
-
Fat fuck.
-
No alcohol last night.
Felt shit this morning.
-
Putting stones in your pockets when on the scales is probably easier ;)

-
Yeah my BMI is ~20 at 64Kg. Frankly I could be a little lighter.
BMI has short-comings as muscle is heavier than fat.
-
Fat fuck.
That's what a fucking man weighs Alex
-
BMI is all very interesting, but I'm worried about Tomtom's battery being down to 15%
Saturday night £10 "ready steady cook" meant mushrooms stuffed with leek and gorgonzola followed by roast duck leg (I only ate one) with sweet potato (roasted under the duck)
2 cans lager and half a bottle of red
didn't eat the panna cotta, because I was trying to be less greedy than usual
didn't eat any pistachios
-
How do people know what their bmi's are?
-
Slackers must have been sleep posting, there's no way he would have made a science mistake otherwise!
-
Yes, but for the same weight if a BMI is made of jelly white bouncy fat, the person is in trouble; if it's made of mean solid fast twitch motherfuking fibers, the person is not in trouble.
-
disappointed this isn't a lard eating contest.
15 stone and proud now fuck off
-
A lard free weekend and a fun trip to Stone Farm today although probably lost more weight sweating in the car on the way /M25 queuing up to watch burning taxi on the hard shoulder.
Weight down to 76.4kg which is good but the bmi calculator leaves me less than chuffed at bmi =24.9 serves me right for not being tall.
hey ho.
-
15 stone and proud now fuck off
That's akin to saying 'I touch kids and I'm proud of it'
-
That nhs bmi test is the worst thing I've ever seen. How the hell are you supposed to take that seriously? Put your height and weight in and it gives you your bmi? Not bloody likely
-
Are you serious? That's how bmi is calculated.
It's a blunt instrument with limited usefulness for fitties.
-
Yes, I thought that wasn't used after people realised it had nothing to do with anything, that's why they started using callipers, which are also useless. Back to the leeches then
-
Yeah yeah, of course. I was just enjoying a rare opportunity to out-pedant Slackers. He meant "denser" not "heavier".
I'm officially on holiday (currently in the Pyrenees having a great time instead of working).
Thanks for correcting me though.
-
Guess I should give it a go. After getting down to 13st I'm creeping up to the 13 1/2 mark again.
No sweets (choc is ok though) and some more CV in spite of sweaty warmness.
On holiday next week, so it's going to be tough.

I even went climbing last night

I got the scales to call me 14 stone 9 pounds this morning
Excellent restraint and 2lbs loss to show for it. :2thumbsup:
My restraint has been less impressive. I held out on the home drinking for 4 days except I was becoming so grumpy and miserable that Sonia virtually forced to share a bottle of wine on tues night. Seb and Echo popped round on weds eve night so had a further glass then. Shared another bottle last night with Sonia. Also have to declare a bottle of beer from when we went bowling last Saturday. Its slightly alarming how much alcohol is an intrinsic part of my life. Stopped snacking though and overall have lost 1lb this week.
-
I had one pint of Yorkshire Blonde on Thursday :ang:
(nothing else the rest of the week)
probably have a few cans of Stella whilst camping this weekend :alky: :boxing:
-
11st 4lb.

Ease those booze withdrawal grumps/shakes* by having a couple of cigs a day ;)

"DIFFERENT COLOURS"!!!
-
Mainly purple, puce, crimson and blue.
-
Twelve days in, no beer, no ice cream, err some cake and 76.2 kg
-
Craving for booze has gone down and not had any alcohol for 6 days. Scarcely any snacking either except at crag. Weight is the same but fat going from my midriff so expect to see a few pounds drop off soon.
-
11.5 but in project mode so 5-2 diet initialised.

-
a manly volume of ale was consumed last weekend due to camping in the rain on the same site as The Mother-in-law
sticking to oatcakes and occasionally mixed nuts and dried fruit for daytime hunger management
no Greggs
no cakes at work
bouldered one evening - was told by someone who knows about these things that I was moving well
the scales registered a low point of 14st 7lb
YYFY!

Currently 81 target 77.
To be achieved by: long days out on the Alps in August
 currently 82 :(
The death of my dad meant my family visit to the uk at the start of the month involved no physical activity and a lot of sitting around drinking with my brother and various old friends.
Appalling weather meant the following week of alpine "climbing" mostly involved hillwalking in pouring rain, interspersed with sitting in huts desperately trying to consume enough calories to stay warm. Rather too successfully it would appear.
-
Well done Lagers -
Theres a woody allen film where they go into the future and find out that smoking is good for you - the implication that he was stupid for giving up. I sometimes wonder if the same will happen with Greggs...
-
I found this article very interesting, especially the ELEL/EMEM approach, which I had never thought about.
I hope it helps everyone with their goals, myself included.

Post hol, still 13 1/2, guess I didn't lose any ground at least!
-
I usually find gains/losses are delayed a week or so.. Don't count your chickens yet;)
-
Yeah, I find that too. I was fairly good though, not much booze, just a bit of excessive habitual snacking when driving. Managed a few reasonable length bike rides.
-
started at 171, dropped to 168 last week. :punk:
Then binged over the weekend back to 170.5. prob just water weight. Let's see how this week goes.

Down to 11.5-6 this week. Limited drinking and snacking still but we're visiting my parents so will have to show restraint with Mum's home cooking especially as climbing psyche is at a low ebb.
-
My deadline is a bit different, since I have a trip in October..
Current: 11.11
Goal (by start of Oct): 11.4
11.7-11.8 this week.. Getting there, but farting a lot in the process!
-
13 st 4. Bike, surf, climb it's been a busy week! Had a bacon roll in a moment of weakness this morning though.
-
11st 5lb. Been steady at this all week... though being careful..
Out for dinner at some place called Char tonight... I don't think its a vegetarian restaurant...

81. Back to square one yyfy.
Interestingly, my rested/waking pulse is down from 47 in April to 44. Suggesting that all the bike riding to work, stair climbing, hillwalking in pouring rain etc. actually worked, and aerobic fitness wouldn't have been the limiting factor had I managed to get on any decent long alpine rock routes.

11.6 this morning :dance1:
Gave in to beer, cheese, wine, roast dinners, blackberry crumble over weekend but declined the cheesecake at dinner on Monday and participating in the McDonalds on the way home
-
Hey ho
More cardio exercise, less cake, no drinking..... the result... weight resolutely stuck at 76.2kg
I do however feel at lot more motivated and with better energy levels than a month ago so still good.
-
having just finished a bag of dirtyros and about to start on some chewy triple chocolate cookies, I'm really enjoying reading about your diets ;D
currently 59.6kg, will be 60kg by the time the cookies are done

I don't want to piss on anyone's chips, but I think that instead of monitoring just weight, one should mostly check fat levels.
We all know that it's easier and faster to lose weight via muscle mass loss, but I think that it would be far better to lose maybe less weight, but via fat loss.
I know that more weight on the fingers is more weight on the fingers, regardless of muscle or fat, but I've found that keeping muscles and losing a little fat brings more advantages. More power, a better look, a healthier body more resistant to colds, etc, and most of all a higher metabolism, that is a key factor for having permanent weight loss instead of the usual ups and downs.
Just my 2 cents.
It goes without saying that I deeply support all the lardathletes here, and in no way I mean to detract anything from their efforts.
Keep it up.
-
You saying I'm fat?? :)
-
I don't want to piss on anyone's chips, but I think that instead of monitoring just weight, one should mostly check fat levels.
If monitoring fat % was as straightforward as weighing yourself I'd agree but most fat checking devices are inaccurate.
-
The mirror is the most accurate thing yet devised
-
Yup!
-
The mirror never lies.
Despite this, monitoring fat is very easy and very accurate. What isn't accurate is the plethora of different formulas used to calculate the %. But that's totally useless, I don't need to know my %, I only need to know whether the folds I measure with my calipers are increasing or decreasing.
-
The mirror is the most accurate thing yet devised
Au contraire - I made the mistake of video-ing myself sans top for the first time in ages on Sunday.
They say the camera adds 10 pounds, in which case I think my camera's broken as it appears to have added about double that.
-
My scales do have some impedance based way of calculating %body fat and to be fair the figure has dropped from 18.3% to 18.0% over the last month.
How accurate it might be is anyones guess.
-
Impedance based measurements might be pretty good for trends at the very least, even if the absolute value is inaccurate. The measurements given by my scales were always very repeatable and, when they did trend, did so for explicable reasons - a slow, incremental rise when I put on a bit of weight, a fall when I lost weight, with the absolute values seeming pretty sensible. That said, they are a fairly posh set of scales - a big handlebar grip that takes the whole of both hands, as well as foot-plates (which common-sense would suggest is more comprehensive than just footplates, or thumb pads) .
-
I don't need to know my %, I only need to know whether the folds I measure with my calipers are increasing or decreasing.
What he said.
Also, I like that there is a "Jackson Pollock" method for calculating body fat. I presume it involves putting random splotches of paint across your belly and then seeing if they get bigger or smaller.
-
I thought the way to tell if you are carrying too much fat was to stand naked in front of the mirror and jump up and down whilst tensing your muscles. Anything that jiggles that shouldn't is fat.

Males only.

My moobs don't count then? :(

Time to start gradually losing the excess weight ready for Sendtember
Current weight 11.8
Target 11.2
I was going well last week weighing 11.5-6 then had a splendid weekend of fine food, wine and technicolour cake so weighed in at 11.8 this morning. Hopefully I can shift that this week but nonetheless a disappointing end to the August Lardathon.
(http://i.imgur.com/rPsNsCa.jpg) (http://imgur.com/rPsNsCa)
-
Epic fail. Was doing OK, at 14st 2 mid last week.....
Then barbeque Saturday afternoon. A few beers resulted in going into gannet mode - it was totally overcatered, so just had to eat.
14st 5 this morning.
Oh well.
-
My August has quite literally been a lardathon. 3kgs put on over the last three weeks mainly due to eating butties on the beach every day and drinking beer and eating snacks every night...
Back up at 90kgs today after being down at a 5yr record low of 87kgs just before my hols
85kgs by Christmas is the goal...
-
11.4 but with project ticked likely to creep up now.
-
About the same...
-
feeling very pleased to have kept weight steady at around 14st 7lb whilst having 2 weeks off work - this usually leads to quite a few extra lbs, but I've been reasonably controlled
drank alcohol most days, ate great food
no climbing
only exercise has been DIY related (carrying a fuckton of wood and concrete)
I did get the scales to register 14st 6lb one day
I am optimistic that I can resume the fat loss
a bit of climbing will boost motivation...

So, to recap, you went from 11.8 to 11.8 over August, and you achieved this by eating cake. Sounds like another successful Simon Lee diet, following on from the excellent museli, honey and greek yoghurt between meals diet. The rainbow cake was a nice twist, but you are the world's most feeble athlete.
-
If that sounds uncharitable, its because i'm actually dieting. You know, where you eat less and lose weight.

Cheers for correcting me!
-
I dunno - it took a lot of strength to lift that slice of cake no doubt.
I spent all of the month on holiday... so it could have gone one of two ways.
The leg muscles are bigger and the waist smaller but this is mostly due to to the price of food in Switzerland and all the exercise from dodging rain showers.
-
I prefer to think of myself as "the world's most tenacious malingerer"
-
Over the month down from 77 to 76kg so not as much wight loss as I hoped for but generally feeling fitter and more motivated so happy to call that a success especially as the month was not entirely cake free!
-
Strong weight loss from between 73-75kg to 67 kg over 28 days.
Secrets include
-Eating undercooked eggs in eastern ex-soviet states
- carrying heavy bags around
- Dragging barrels around whilst doing the above
- Altitude for further appetite supressant.
- Replace nearly all food stuffs with almonds
Feeling fit but not strong
Time for some steepness! (and cake)
-
I prefer to think of myself as "the world's most tenacious malingerer"
I have a secret theory (that's no longer secret) that you and the nation's favorite telly doc Dr Michael Mosley share similar genes for being non-responsive to aerobic stimulus. I base my theory on you looking similar and your voices sounding a bit alike. Not really related to lardathon/weight loss except that non-responders and low-responders do best with very high intensity training (aerobic). There's a DNA test you can do, here: http://www.xrgenomics.com/ (http://www.xrgenomics.com/) I took the test 2 years ago out of curiosity, but they lost my sample and I didn't bother chasing it up. They've yet to come up with an affordable DNA test for how responsive you are to strength or anaerobic stimuli but I thought the aerobic test might have some crossover. Go on, prove my theory!
-
At £150, I'd have been chasing them long ago Pete. Maybe that's how they get you started on a cardio lifestyle... chasing.
-
For £50 I can do such a DNA analysis.
Hold your thumb over your PC webcam or camera on your phone and email me the pic. I will then send you your comprehensive aerobic/anaerobic analysis within 10 min. I'll even throw in a free lollipop.
-
Only if it's a sugarfree lollipop

Only if it's a sugarfree lollipop
No problem.
I also do a range of budget DIY gastric bands....

If I drop below 165.7, I'll be the lightest I've been since my freshman year of college. Fighting Weight- :boxing:
New goals:
Current - 167lbs, 76kg, 11.13 st
Oct 1 - 164lbs, 74.5kg, 11.10 st
Nov 1 - 161lbs, 73kg, 11.7 st

Feeling fat:
End of July (just before surgery):
ca. 10.3 stone (65kg)
Now
ca. 11.11 stone (75kg)
If these were only muscles ...
The plan: Quit smoking, start Long distance running. Hope: to get back to 67-68kg

I was a little concerned that I would be missing out on the home-cooking based flirting where ladies enjoy fondling my soul via my stomach
My new habit of photographing cakes and not eating them (capture and return) has made it common knowledge that I am trying to lose some lard - this seems to imply to the ladies that they now have carte blanche to eye up my torso and comment on it's form with a patronising pat. As long as I'm getting enough attention, I'm OK.
-
I think I may have misunderstood this topic.
-
did you think it applied to August?
easy mistake
-
NO, I've been wearing thongs for a month and the chaffing is really rather painful now

back from 2 weeks all inclusive :wavecry:. Back around!

was lured into eating a couple of fig rolls on they way back from the crag which let to a bowl of creamy ice cream later - might this be some sort of grooming? fig rolls seem so mild, but I guess they could be a gateway to harder stuff - last night would corroborate this theory
-
Personally I use gel for grooming. Fig rolls make my scalp itch.
-
Lagerstarfish uses a kukri for that sort of grooming

13st 1 1/2 this morning, in spite of no exercise due to workload and working all hours. But the high stress cortisol production seems to work wonders for weight loss. I wouldn't recommend it as being good for your state of mind though :(

Down to about 12st 9 the lightest I've been for years

Nahh, it's the Adam Lincoln diet, before I was full of shit, but after the AL diet (talking shit for a month) the weight has plummeted and my list of 1st ascents has increased.
-
Cross referencing threads - it seems the easy way to lose weight is to enter a dws competition and imbibe lots of local sea water...
Alternatively, I can sell you a vial of our cats poo - as he's just been diagnosed with Gardia (Jardia?). Simply mix with your normal morning protein shake and 1-2 weeks of guaranteed weight loss. Also useful if you need some time off work to watch day time tv - or if you've just landed a position as a toilet roll tester.

88.9kg (13st 9) this morning so that's just over a kilo gone and 4 to go...

Just measured in at the lowest weight I've been since I was 18!!!! :dance1:

First day without cigarettes ... (with support of nicotin stickers and champix).
Went for a 6km run with two lovely nurses which actually worked very motivating ... :ang:
-
Be careful with that Champix. It banned now in France. My missus nearly killed me in a car accident while on that stuff. Nasty.
-
Yeah, that's me. Mind of steel, fingers of tissue paper, legs of wood.
And a knob of butter!
it might look like that to you, but in my mind it's a bar of lead/graphene composite
-
Got to watch it with toxicity with a lead cock lagers. Whilst the value of lead continues to rise and it will undoubtably have a good trade in value, traditional flesh - or even plastic are probably better options.

What's this thing about "cake tables" at work? Some kind of "team building" strategy, a treat for surviving the week, or just some simple way to bo nice to each other that to me is unknown, work wise?
Anyway it must be tough for a Lardathlete. You have all my support.
-
It's to make fat people feel happier about themselves by watching everyone else scoff.
-
Crazy isn't it, used to work with a woman who brought a homemade cake/traybake in every week but never once ate any of it herself. Somehow buying all that junk seems even crazier though, I'll show them how much I care but without making any effort.
-
When people look back in 15 years time from their enlightened world of stevia and other old/new sweeteners, the practice of workplace cake-trays might be seen as a kind of workplace abuse - exposing others to such an addictive substance that's been strongly linked to inflammation, diabetes, heart disease, obesity and various other ill-health effects ...
(I'd demolish one of those galaxy's btw!)
-
The lass who sits next to me makes a tray of scottish tablet every couple of weeks (like fudge only with more sweeter; basically suugar melted, added to sugar then boiled and a bit of flavouring added).
I swear it's like crack.

I'm sure I could get below 14 just by not drinking enough water for a day

Or less lager Largers... effort.
Has this turned into a dietathon thread now? If so I may have to join in from next Wednesday. 1kg a month to lose for twelve months. Half a pound a week. Can't be that hard can it? Not when I'm a bloater anyway.
-
I seem to be reaching the bottom of what can be achieved by merely cutting out my excessive cake consumption during the week.
I may have to actually put effort in if I want to lose more. I'm hoping that getting out on grit will provide sufficient reward/motivation for this
I have been doing 4x20mins cardio/aerobic/whaeteveritscalled per week for the last 2 weeks, but I hear that it doesn't help with anything
-
I was told fat burning only starts c.a. after more than 30 minutes, and don't expect miracles either :(
-
really I'm just hoping to increase my walk-in speed (carrying pads) without wasting myself so that I can make better use of my limited time

12 st 12 1/4. Still no climbing, but been doing quite a lot of swimming ( 3 times a week) in preparation for a competition coming up (not swum competitively since mid 80s, so struggling a bit). Hopefully when that's over a I might get on and do a bit of easy climbing.
-
this week has seen a significant change in cake assaults due to the massive amounts of stress flying about - people are spending £5 at a time to "treat" each other individually
I never thought I'd see the day where I'd turn down proper quality cake

not all of us

I'm pretty tempted to challenge you to less than 14stone competition Lagers but my main problem is that beer tastes too good and my will is too weak. after starting cycling to work most days I've dropped from 15 down to about 14.5 and I've also started climbing again in order to not embaress myself too much on an upcoming font trip
-
Off topic. You going to Font with Worm and Old Cheese Jim? I'm headed there with TC and a few others, from 31st October to 10th of November.
-
Yes. not going with worm. Going the week after so should be there when you're there

time to start making an effort towards "healthy living" again
14st 12lb and 32% fat this morning according to home scales
hardly any excercise in the last few months and the last 3 weeks has been a constant feast
my intentions are to avoid cakes at work, no Greggs, no day time fish and chips or fried chicken - and become a Power Club user
Shark reccommended daily weighing when I spoke to him, so this is what I will do
-
Kids back to school today, holiday is over, back on the wagon. Got 9lbs to shift to get back to fighting weight.
-
Good man... I put on a couple of pounds over holibobs and now at 14st 6lb, aiming to get below 14st by October.. According to some shady website (http://www.healthcentral.com/cholesterol/home-body-fat-test-2774-143.html) I have 7.6% body fat! This is surprisingly low I'd have thought...?
-
Just done another one and it said 17%!!?? Seems like a bit of a lottery...
Edit: Realised I'd put the data in as a woman and changing it to male would seem to make it 7% too... Wonders will never cease and I'm clearly in better shape than I thought I was :)
-
Shark is right about the daily weighing, it focuses the mind. I'd also say in the morning, it seems a bit more reliable and if you can do it after a piss and a shit - bonus.
Best of luck everyone. The battery in my scales has died, so I'll be going off my 32 inch Diesel jeans - they never lie. Only got six week till I head off to Spain and am about 83kg after the last two weeks holiday (didn't gain thankfully) and need to be under 80kg before I go.
For those going off bodyfat - I've some posh scales, been measured too but there's a US Navy formula on the interweb somewhere that they use and it's pretty much in line if you compare it too the other methods. Worth a look at if you don't wanna lash out on scales etc.
-
FFS... Sharks posted up in Power Club that he's now lighter than me... Time for me to shed a few lbs and/or start feeding Shark doughnuts again...
-
I didnt know it was possible to be heavier than Simon? Aren't you worried you'll collapse into a black hole or something?
-
Kids back to school today, holiday is over, back on the wagon. Got 9lbs to shift to get back to fighting weight.
Annoyingly I was down to 13st just before holidays, need to get back. Might even have to start doing some cardio again, get out on the bike when the weather is marginally pish, instead of going to the wall / sitting at home eating cake.

Goal: remain the same weight - 10.7 stone (68Kg) - as I've been for the last 20 years.
Current: 10.7 stone.
Goal achieved. Think I'll take the rest of the year off.

Goal 65Kg.
Weight 65Kg.
8% body fat according to that link above.

Works for me. However, as we discussed what works for you is vicariously posting images of cheesecake that you declined to eat on social media. Have you upgraded your phone yet?

no
Mrs Stratfish is fully supportive of me spending money on a smart phone, but I have an annoying mental block on spending money on "myself"

Just buy the moto g Version 3 and be done with it. It's the new kid on the block and will be current for about 6 months ;) I'm still more than happy with my V1, which has 4g and can be had sim free and unlocked in tescos for 99 quid. The new one has a far better camera for the taking of cake pictures and the lager you didn't drink.

I'm not surprised! That's just carbs for breakfast and very little fat or protein. Get on the fat/protein for breakfast (i.e.scrambled eggs, butter-fried pancakes, oily fish, nuts & greek yogurt) and I guarantee* you won't feel hungry nor get food cravings till mid-afternoon.

Just cos I was starving didn't mean I ate! Was a good boy, and had some mac n cheese at lunch.
-
it went a bit wrong today
one Lidl pain au raisin and some fruit for breakfast - not too bad
due to low activity at the courts, I found myself unable to refuse the offer of being bought "breakfast" at McDonalds by a rather lovely female DC (her almost as lovely lady lawyer friend came too)
I tried my best to expend as many calories as possible in multi-agency flirting, but suspect that the calories-in-vs-calories-out battle didn't go my way
this meant that I wasn't hungry at my lunch time and so cracked on with a sledge full of paperwork that needed to be converted to a paperless format - meaning that I was fucking starving later and gave way to the cake table - low grade flapjack and brownies.
arrived home to find that my current wife had purchased some sort of ultra high gluten pizza analogy for my tea while she goes to the local cafe with her mates
I am now trying to decide whether to have a proper paleo style one man barbecue with the ribeye steaks I got yesterday, eat the dough fest "pizza", or just stick to beer, leftover prosecco and pistachios and pringles
on the positive side; I am doing easy stuff on the woody while I think
might have olives instead of pringles
-
Drink a large glass of water and eat the steak :whip:
I would have puntered you where it not for the muli-agency flirting
-
it's the female attention that caused the problem in the first place
I can't be expected to control my own eating behaviour when that sort of socializing is available
-
Drink two glasses of water, say three Hail Marys and go to bed early. Up at 5 for some pre dawn dead hanging.
-
With you there Lagers - out with a pretty blonde last night and chose the feta salad whilst she tucked into burger and chips. 1 point to me. Then she started on the bourbon... lots of doubles to me and back onto the beer. Singing along to Bob Jovi was the high/lowlight. No doubt there's still muffin tops above my 32 inch jeans.
Today is a friend's wedding and fuck it, I'm gonna drive to stop myself drinking. Must focus on Lardathon and not the bridesmaids.
-
yeah; women have it so easy - it's just accepted that they are allowed to eat healthily, whereas us poor blokes have to go against the cultural norm and risk making a scene if we want to drink moderately and eat light

Weighed in at 76.8kg this morning after a greasy charcuterie and cheese filled holiday.
Started the day with my usual Font brekkie of 1 pain aux raisin ( the healthy option what with all the fruit) and a pain suisse for the drive home. 3 cans of beer and a couple ( 5 ish (so far)) of glasses of red to see me through the afternoon. Cooking up a lamb curry (on the bone of course) which I'll eat with rice and a couple of paratha.
Monday I'm on a diet to get down to 74.5kg for an autumn of crushing orange circuits.

The Fat Loss Paradox
Harder, shorter training works better than easier, longer training. Attack body fat with a passion and a single-minded goal. The best way to do this is with an all-out assault implementing the hierarchy I described. It really is that simple.
Really good clear article that, but info like this is preaching mostly to the converted. 'It really is that simple' - good nutrition and high intensity work = fat loss and growth or preservation of lean muscle.
It really isn't that simple though because there still exists the flip side of the coin - the extremely pleasurable and addictive lure for the majority of the population that is drinking alcohol and eating lots of tasty calorie-dense food.
It's a bit like saying avoiding the negative side effects of crack cocaine really is very simple - simply avoid consuming crack cocaine.
-
I understand what you mean, but the aim of the article is to provide info about the strategy and physiology of fat loss, leaving mental aspects behind.
There are articles about mental strategies as well, but that isn't one of them.

Time to commit. 13 stone 2 lb and need to be back to 12 stone. Living in Qatar and birth of first child are contributing factors, but enough with the excuses.

My sunday weigh in turned out to be a freak result and I immediately gained 0.9kg according to my inaccurate scales. I've managed to get rid of half of it.... I thought my diet was going to be finished in a couple of weeks, doesn't look that way.

Water retention and hydration play a big role in looking ripped.
So, with the body fat percentage you have to factor in that figure athletes go on a flush mode before a photoshoot.
Those pics are a good reference but in my opinion they could be a bit deceiving in the lower percentages due to dehydration.
-
I've never had mine measured, but I'm guessing I'm about 17.5% but the colour of 20%.

Good point about the extreme ones and obviously these are athletes rather than malnourished non-athletes.
I can only comment on the mid ranges where I've been but the photos struck me as accurate for the body %'s I've been at various times which is why I posted it up.
