Seb Bouin's new route “La Côte d'Usure”, 9a+, on the Ramirole sector must certainly be the hardest single pitch in Verdon. The route follow a striking prow for 60 m, and was bolted by Seb himself when he was 16 years old.

I find the route well named. La Côte d'Usure sounds very similar to “La Côte d'Azur” if read out loud (and the Verdon is a part of the Côte d'Azur in the wider sense at least). Usure means both wear and usury. La cote d'usure without a hat on the o just means “wear limits”. I suppose the route name refers both to not being able to afford going to Flatanger for a rematch, and the nature of the route, among other things.

Côte also is also vaguely similar to coût ( cost) and cotation (grade).
There’s a nice tradition of punning route names in the Verdon like Frime et Châtiments (showing off - not crime- and punishment) and L’Étroit Mousquetaire so it’s rather in that vein.

If I think that a route name doesn't have a pun, it's because I didn't catch it ...

I enjoyed that. Not too precious about the cleaning!
Which someone has put a bit of effort into.
