Post by: haydn jones on November 01, 2017, 10:34:56 pm
Jack did pilgrimage. I don't know if he used knees or not but my guess is he didn't.  :strongbench:

It wouldn't be a repeat of Pilgrimage if he used knees ;)

Cheers lads. No knees obviously. That would be something entirely different....sacrilege maybe

When I was trying it earlier in the year Barrows stood in front of my camera as I was about to go and said something along the lines of 'this is Jack trying Pilgrimage without kneebars because he's an idiot'  only saw it about a month later when I was deleting the footage.

Amazing stuff. Congrats beast.
I tend to doubt that you're as weak as you said.

He's a midget, he wouldn't be able to use the knees if he wanted to.

I fucking so could you know, even own a knee pad now. Been watching you cheat your way up stuff and learned a little, not too much though. Used a kneebar yesterday actually, just not on this. Future innit. Also sick of telling you, I'm normal height you are just freakishly tall.

Dandered up that! IDK Jack, I don't think the IFSC judges would give you that top.

Yep not a problem.

Haha, I nearly didn't match at all, and Malc went one hold further than Alex, Mike or me I believe! Back around times three. And then some for Barrows.

What's the deal with this then, doens't look hard to go to the true Malc finish, so why does nobody do it?

Looks, from my armchair perspective, like a more logical finish than that diagonal hold.

Not really sure, I knew Mike had been called out in jest when he did it to the diagonal jug but never thought of going to the hold Malc goes to myself, and if I would have I probably would have carried on upwards and not dropped on to the mats, although if you are going to top out Upper Cut is a much nicer way out of the cave (a finish i'll possibly try to add), the rock is much better quality at least until the very top groove which can have some loose bits.

The end boulder problem (beaver cleaver) and all the other problems in the same area get finished on that hold or certainly do nowadays, not sure if this has always been the case (Doylo?). When I first watched the video of Malc doing it  I just assumed he'd got extra psyched when finishing it and gone a hold further up, but watching it back that may not be the case, the next hold is big but shit and scrittly, I've down climbed through it a few times off other adjacent problems but never gone upwards to it I don't think.
