What sort of vintage? I know a couple of people who have a fair bit of experience in 50-70's era stuff.
-
GME is into 60's stuff...
-
It was my Grandfather's, so I'm guessing pre WWII.
My mum is convinced it's very valuable, I have doubts.

Someone with lots of fake tan?

I know nothing about such things, but have sold a few items that I thought were worthless.
I searched ebay for similar stuff and then checked the "sold" listings for price guide, took plenty of photos and used key words from the more successful adverts for stuff that had sold

I've tried that. She's convinced it's a William Morris recliner. It looks a bit like one, but it might be a generic copy. There are no identifying marks on it, and I think it's been reupholstered. I'll upload a photo.

Why does your mum think it's a genuine William Morris recliner as opposed to just a Morris Chair?

We have a 1960s Scandinavian leather and bent-wood chair whose tilt and swivel mechanism is knackered. It's not one of the famous names but it's a nice item and comes from my parents so we'd like to keep it working. Any suggestions on who could fix it? London-based but don't mind carting it north or west - good excuse for a climbing trip.

Blind optimism. And that it looks slightly like one.

No clues?
A very quick search of Google Images for William Morris Reclining Chair brings up what I can only term as truly ghastly crimes against furniture including this abomination (http://www.antiques-atlas.com/antique/william_morris_type_adjustable_reclining_armchair_/as342a1192) but none of them look like the picture you posted. I must admit I only briefly scanned the first five pages though before it got too much (it is really not my style at all).
As for it be reupholstered - I would say definitely so - probably done in the 60's or maybe early 70's judging by the material in the the picture you put up.

It does work and I'd say, no it's not (but my only knowledge is a passing interest in furniture design and a somewhat art nouveau/arts and crafts movement/william morris/rennie mackintosh obsessed mother).
The original Morris chair had a different reclining method, as per largers and butters links - it had pins from the armrests into the back of the chair to allow you to adjust it, not the mechanical mechanism as shown in your image.
That's not to say it isn't worth something. It's a nice chair and re-upholstered in a Morris & Co fabric from one of the archives collections would look great.
