I had a chalk bag with a similar feature
a mesh pocket inside
can't remember what make
I did have a Pod chalk bag at the time, but not sure that was it
might have been a cheapie thing from a French supermarket
the mesh let more chalk through than a chalk ball and worked pretty well
it might have been designed for keeping keys in.... in which case it was in a dumb position

I like hanchor, they had a bucket bag design that included room for your shoes which is pretty handy to/fram crag or wall.
Before Momentum paused trading they were developing me a prototype boulder bucket and had done the first version and then I went back to them with changes, bit the guys wive's illness stopped it going further for now.
Anybody know anybody UK based who could progress my design? Make me a sample?

Looks a bit of a faff to fill - the "how to" guide shows solid chunks of block chalk being inserted through a small zippered opening - if you had a proper bag of the loose stuff would a funnel be needed? Just seems to be a design in search of a problem - addressing a niche population who want to buy loose chalk but use it as though it's a chalk ball.

I wrote that originally but then deleted it so as not to be overly cynical.

Cheap "pop socks" does the trick for me, fill one with loose chalk tie a knot et voila chalk ball. No idea what denier they are though.

D'oh. I should have thought about them, he made my daughter a chalk bag last year. :goodidea:

Hey guys I was involved with this(explains a lot, eh? ;D)
but actually I just tested the bags, I didn't design them.
There are actually two bags, so the "faff to fill" one is called HULA.
I sort of agree about that issue to some extent, but i've actually found that loose chalk is actually easier to fill into it than block as long as you're not a total klutz.
I prefer the Kangaroo personally though. This is the one that has the second function for loose chalk.
I had 4 chalkbags and 2 types of chalkballs .. so I'm pretty well versed in chalk. After using chalkballs, loose chalk, and these new chalkbags, i've stuck with the kangaroo for a few months now and that's the only bag i use for climbing routes.
I guess what im saying is i found it's not "the equivalent" of a chalkball, it actually works better -- (otherwise i would be using a chalkball!). and yes it's easier to fill
Cheers! ( im not sure if i need to pay to reply in this thread or something? :-\)
