Title: Wilton Conditions
Post by: Adam Lincoln on May 28, 2009, 05:44:20 pm
Thought this might be of use.

All inside of Prow dry, (Wilton 1) outside of it ok, but green.
Most stuff either direction from Gigantic dry, again a little green.

Also for anyone interested i have abbed and cleaned up gigantic, so ready for any suitors to have a play.

Has any one been this week? Is it gopping?

Thanks in advance.

It's rained solidly for the last 2 days in Horwich so I can't believe it'd be dry.

Anyone been up here recently and able to tell me what sort of nick the place is in?

Would be particularly interested to know the condition of any/all of the following:  The Swine, Pigs on the Wing, Lazy Friday, White Slabs Bunt, Constable's Overhang.

Cheers.

Haven't been recently, but it's been a dry and mostly sunny week, so barring a downpour, most stuff should be fine. A small amount of rain today, but given any sort of breeze, The Swine and Pigs on the Wing will almost definitely be dry. I'd imagine your chances of Lazy Friday being dry would be decent (though the outside of the prow will be green as ever). Not sure about White Slabs Burnt, that area seems to hold damp longer than the rest of the crag.

For anyone who's interested, rman's prediction was pretty accurate.

Wilton 2 all good. Tweeker, Falling Crack, Wilton Wall, Iron Orchid, The Swine and Pigs Direct all got ascents today.

Wilton 3 looked dry and mostly clean.

At Wilton 1 both sides of the prow looked OK (although the outside was pretty green). White Slab Bunts and a lot of the stuff further right was wet, with the exception of Master Spy.  Didn't look at 999 area.

p.s. If the guys on Pigs picked up my guidebook please drop me a text on 07886769137!

Cheers, Luke.

Just wondering if anyone has looked in on the Wiltons recently and spotted any decent snow drifts, ripe for some snow patios? A flat landing in Wilton 3 beneath the square and Rodin's Requiem would be amazing. Also, would be great to have a level landing beneath Veteran Cosmic Rocker, Wilton 1.

Tomorrows forecast is good. Is much of the bouldering at Brownstones or Wilton likely to be dry? I imagine is it all gopping, given all the snow.

I would hazard a guess that Bownstones would be all good tomorrow and bits of Wilton (Wilton 2, Square block and Wilton 1 graveyard/prow areas).

There was barely any snow up on the top of Belmont road today, so I would imagine most snow lower down at Wiltons/Brownstones should be gone. Can't be completely sure, but as Andy says, most fast drying areas would be a good bet. In the Wiltons, those would be:

The Square in W3
Slab,Purple Feel and The Swine Wall in W2
Prow, Chimney Buttress, Gravedigger and Snakey B in W1
Neat Whisky in W4
