Title: Avid Brake Pads
Post by: SA Chris on March 23, 2021, 11:15:46 am
Need to replace pads on MTB, long overdue!

Avid Juice 5 brakes - choices are a bit overwhelming though, from £20 a pair for OEM parts to about a fiver for two pairs! I've never replaced pads before, so no idea if it's worth the extra cash, or makes little difference.

I'm not a serious downhiller or anything, but like a steep blast on local trails sometimes.

TIA.

I get nukeproof sintered pads and they do me fine in the UK and for ‘downhilling with lots of braking’ in the Alps. Not very expensive and one set usually lasts around six months (or 4 days in the Alps)

I've been using DiscoBrakes sintered on all my bikes including a MTB tandem since I wore out the original OEM organic ones, they last really well in the local mud/grit and are plenty powerful, only downside is they screech like hell when wet.
