It never lasts long enough to be stored.

No, are you mental?

Wait a minute, don't tell me you're one of those low % milk chocolate consumers?

If you were on the real stuff you wouldn't even consider it. Or you're jsut truely bonkers...

There was, until recently, a giant Toblerone in there too (don’t eat a lot of Milk Chocolate, there are exceptions). Lasted me almost two weeks! It has to be said, Toblerone from the fridge presents significant dental challenges. Patience and a return to room temperature is required. That or a good dentist on speed dial.

I put a biscoff chocolate bar in recently as it’s warm and has a fairly soft centre. Other than that, and not that i ever have them but i would do the same with a mars bar, absolutely not.

Is that extra crunchy peanut butter in the fridge!?!

Surely that would just bend any knife or spoon?

Glad to see UKB tackling the real issues.

And the answer is: never, it causes bloom!

However, I am willing to allow exemptions for people in much hotter climates (and heatwaves).

And tomatoes. I thought everyone knew they lose flavour straight from the fridge.

You do realise that when you turn off the AC and leave the apartment in the summer in a warm country it quickly becomes too hot and humid to store almost any food?

Yup. But it’s cheaper and more efficient to leave the AC on in the summer. It was around 9am when I took the photo. 43⁰C in the shade on my balcony. The AC is set at 22.5⁰C which feels like plunging into cold water when you walk in from outside. Chocolate goes really soft at 22.5 and everything else just “goes off”. There’s also the need to seal everything in an air tight container. Roaches fly and any food detectable will have them through the balcony door in droves. I swear they can detect a spot of butter dropped on the floor from several kilometres. Like sharks and blood, but more vicious. You learn to clean well here. We had a roach the size of a mouse in the office the other day, one of the architects killed it and went to grab the dustpan to clear it out, by the time he got back (5minutes?) a column of ants had appeared from nowhere and was carrying off the corpse…

Yeah, the same for us in Southern France, but less drastic of course. On the other hand, in Sweden dog days are called "rötmånad" or month of rot, and defined as the hottest part of the year when food rot quickly if you leave it out. In the southwest the time of the year when food goes bad quickly has three names: "spring", "summer" and "autumn".

I live in Scotland, which is basically a giant fridge. Chocolate makers instruct to store in a cool dark place. Not keep refrigerated. They know.

There are certain types of chocolate that, of course, belong in the cupboard. I rarely have these but Toffee Crisps, Double Deckers etc need to be in the cupboard to have a pleasing texture.

But for simple chocolate having it out of the cupboard is for toothless gummers. Part of the joy in eating chocolate is the feel of the snap as you bite into it.

Fultonius, I don't mind dark chocolate, but for the quantities I consume in it really has to be milk.

To all who voted 'no' I say "find Jesus".
