Unbelievable!

Shark, I've missed pretty much all talk of The Oak this year. Has it become a self-debilitating mental block now?

I was at the Bowderstone over new year and, of course, we got round to Shark Siege (the UK climbing scene's premier conversational topic).
One of the local old lags proudly proclaimed that they were there on the day that Shark all but did it but got overexcited post-crux and wobbled himself off it.
"There's a video on YouTube and you can hear me and Chris Gore in the background saying surely he can't drop it now!"

Two climbers on an awkward first date. Conversation has dried up. It's not going well.
And then,
"What do you think of Shark Siege? Should he climb faster or should he go bouldering?"

They talked long into the night, and within 5 years they're married and expecting a baby. All because of Shark Siege.

Are you suggesting the baby arrives before Shark clips the chains?

"There's a video on YouTube and you can hear me and Chris Gore in the background saying surely he can't drop it now!"

Either my hearings going or there's a bit of story embellishment from Al going on there. Judge for yourself

I received a message from my mate the other day saying, "Shark's got a replica of the moves up to the Horn set up at the Works. Let's get down there and get it flashed!"

Chalking up then taking your shirt off. A bit of a rookie error, might not have needed to stop and chalk.

So we went to all of the effort of making you a replica and you don't even use it. That's gratitude for you. It's coming down first thing in the morning.

I believe that this is the year. The Shark siege is the story of the tenacity of the common man, the underdog, never giving up, lifting the boot off your face and saying - "can you belay me again". Its something we can all relate to. Who wants an astrophysicist sciencing his way to the top of a 9a.

I'm with Shark

Yeah! The brotherhood of head hunters and recruitment consultants will rise up and triumph against the mighty water washed limestone of Malham cove. A true 21st century tale of the common man against nature.

CLOSE THAT OAK DEAL Shark....

Comrade.

I'm fully behind him nonetheless

Shark's labours in the mines of Malham are enough to qualify him as great Stakhanovite! Hail the worker!

I watched the whole section at Malham yesterday. Was the extension he did really one of the 'remaining great challenges of unclimbed rock in the UK' ?? According to Countryfile anyway...
