So I'm supposed to be going sport climbing at the weekend up round Settle, but it keeps raining. I'm wondering if Giggleswick or any of the other crags are likely to be dry come the weekend? I've never been up there so don't have a clue. I can't imagine any limestone not being a seepage ridden mess considering the rain that's come down in Leeds over the last few days, but would be happy to be told otherwise. Thanks in advance.

I've heard lots about Trollers Gill staying dry, but the bottom might be a river after loads of rain?

Some parts of giggleswick North and South dry very fast and are pretty free of seepage. The hard stuff probably will be seeping though (Hollywood bowl). The stuff on castleberg crag dries quick but again not much in the way of hard stuff. Right hand side is better and usually drier. Stays dry in light rain.

its rained here basically for 3 days + in sheff... i would consider your trip seriously compromised.. sorry.

Trollers gill doesn't really seep, was there t'other day and it was fine, the river was not a problem. Giggleswick also doesn't suffer much from seepage i've heard.

Thanks for the knowledge everybody, might risk it so long as it doesn't rain too much tomorrow.

Speaking of trollers, has any one tried the 8b there? Wondering if it's any good.
-
Go to North Wales instead, it's dry.
-
It's good IMHO. Better than the silly link up that starts up the 8b then escapes rightwards because the fa was too weak...

Okay thanks nik.

Anyone got a general report for the Giggleswick area? Mostly interested in the trad and easier stuff? How will it be after today's rain?

Any updates from the weekend?
