Kerazee Southern hardman Martin Crocker soloed a 60 ft roof onsight, first ascent - no ropes no nothing - awesome achievement. PlanetFear (http://www.planetfear.com/climbing/news/index.html) writes:
June 27 2003: Crocker Solos Massive Ogmore Roof
Martin Crocker as made the first ascent (and solo) of probably the biggest, highest, longest and not least the scariest overhanging cave in the UK. He crossed the massive 60 foot long overhanging roof of Davy Jones's Locker at Ogmore on Friday 13th. Clean on the first attempt - without a fall. The route named 'Supertitious' is graded at approx Fr7b+ (E7 6b). As a 'Warm down' the following day he made a another bold first ascent (and Solo) breaching the 1 in 2 overhanging roof taking the left side of Davy Jones's Locker Cave to give 'No Faking It' Fr7b+ (E76b)

Crocker's been toiling away down the south west for years, putting up some damn fine stuff. Always used to get a slagging from the Peak crew, but nobody ever seems to go down to check out the routes :?

I've noticed in photos (generally in climber whilst reading it in WHSmiths) he always seems to be wearing moccasyms with masking tape wrapped round the arch (which is odd) and stripey trousers.

Have you seen any pictures of Ken Palmer? he looks as mad as a fish. Its the water in the south west, its full of hard climbing mad people.

Cheers Dobbin, I'll take that as a compliment!

The evidence is there for the doubters, Ken's routes are all hard for the grade and he's something of a legend!
Big up to the south west climbing massive!
