Title: The famous cwp diet
Post by: wolfgang on November 30, 2013, 08:44:50 pm
So it looks like that bouldering wad cwp has been "working hard" trimming down. And from the "wanky" pics on fb it seems to of helped.

My question is dieting to this extent really worth the five months of hard work? Surely this hard work could be better spent eating a balance meal as well as actually training?

Is the fact that you can now see a few ribs really a sign of ones strength??

I hope the young guns that follow these uba wads don't emulate this extreme fasting.

No, but climbing your hardest is. Do you actually know what you're talking about, or is it just snarky speculation?

I'm not speculating, it's a fact I can now see ribs! Please don't get on your forum high horse. No doubt his potential to climb his pb is around the corner. And what price?

He looks lean not malnutritioned, what price do you speak of? Eating "clean" requires dedication rather than starvation, the latter would simply lead to muscle wastage.

My point was he just has done. And had his best comp result so far.

Great, grief from another calorie counter!

are you kidding? I'm currently on a holiday where I'm basically just eating and drinking my way around a city. I literally have a box full of pastries in my other (sugar coated) hand.

The fact that I understand certain dietary methods means sweet FA, in fact, when I did eat clean for a prolonged period I was at my heaviest ever.

You sound like one of those people who likes to kid themselves that they're not just eating cos they like eating but they're doing it cos they should be. Accept that you're a gatty cos you're greedy and get over it (like I have)

My passion for eating too much always managed to outweigh my ambition to crush. Good on him he's in phenomenal shape right now.

The OP is clearly just being a handbag bitch, but he is right that that is a seriously wanky picture. Made me feel slightly ill, and pull those trousers up FFS.

What happened 5 months ago??

What makes you think that he's only been dieting and not training?

From his spray sheet he seems to have got some hard climbs in despite working on the rigs half the time http://www.8a.nu/?IncPage=http%3A//www.8a.nu/scorecard/AscentList.aspx%3FUserId%3D1551%26AscentType%3D1%26AscentClass%3D0%26AscentListTimeInterval%3D1%26AscentListViewType%3D0%26GID%3D654dde228fa4fc0b78046bbfde8a7525 (http://www.8a.nu/?IncPage=http%3A//www.8a.nu/scorecard/AscentList.aspx%3FUserId%3D1551%26AscentType%3D1%26AscentClass%3D0%26AscentListTimeInterval%3D1%26AscentListViewType%3D0%26GID%3D654dde228fa4fc0b78046bbfde8a7525)

Have to agree with the above, your post comes across as bitchy and little else, if you can boulder as hard at a higher body fat %age then well done.

What makes you think that he's only been dieting and not training?

He was taking at raven tor a few weeks ago about the amount of training he does offshore. Loads of running,  insane amounts of core stuff and an equally insane amount of fingerboarding. Proper beasting himself. Definitely a hell ofa lot of work and dedication gone into it by the sound of it!

He doesn't look starved at all. He looks like a fit athlete on peak form (that he probably won't be able to sustain for very long)

What happened 5 months ago??

Is this a trick question? His girl left the country innit?

I would like to see the source of your information, on which you base that he starves himself.

Its just not realistic.

bollocks

I just got caught looking at facebook selfies of a half naked, fit young man with his trousers falling off

there's no way I'll be able to explain that I was only interested in weight loss methods - "start eating for one" is the standard response from Mrs Starfish

has there been no mention of broccoli ?

We have Chuck Norris, Bruce Lee, uppercuts but you best us with Brocolli. Amazing thread I have to say.
We should upgrade to a stickie about selfies.  :wank:

Chris has been offshore twice and he had nothing to do but train, on his second trip I had to work in full breathing apparatus in ridiculous heat for the entire time while he continued training. I don't look like an athlete tho, and he could do with some food

Respect to anyone working offshore and training and losing weight. Most people can't resist the unlimited food laid out before them three times a day and get fat and sit about watching pron

And thanks for posting that pic shark, I'm so uncool I had no idea what a cwp diet was.

Beast! As Chris said, fitting that in while doing shifts offshore is hugely impressive. It's about as much as I can get myself to do to stay out of the cakes and go for a jog a few times a week...

Which bit of my post did people not read? He didn't do anything offshore. It's not impressive staying off the cakes and the nice food every meal when he's in Trinidad and none of these are available to you

Well, obviously if you'd mentioned that before I'd be less impressed... Though fitting that amount of volume in still puts me massively to shame. Does he manage to fit a fingerboard in his baggage or make do with whatever's out on the rig (stairs, door sills...)

They weren't staying on a rig they were in a 5* luxury plantation house, fully equipped with air con, servants, mini bar, trouser press, 45 degree board and gold bidet.

Some random, useless and unrequested thoughts about dieting, etc.
Let's not forget that CWP had already climbed a few 8c's and numerous 8b+, so he was already quite good even with a few pounds on.
He got ripped by healthy eating and hard training: it's probably these two factors that enabled him to crush, more than the little weight he could have lost, in my opinion.
Plus, being ripped as a consequence of training (and not just from under-eating - if this verb exists), gives a very high self confidence and this helps in climbing hard.
It's important to distinguish whether the aim is to be ripped and the consequence is climbing hard, or the aim is climbing hard and the consequence is being ripped. I tend to think that in CWP's case it's the latter.

Better than a Gold board and a 45 degree bidet...

Shark why did you post my replies as if I'd contradicted myself? I quite obviously said he'd been offshore twice then in a separate statement said he didn't do any work offshore. One doesn't contradict the other. Last week I went to burbage, it doesn't necessarily mean I climbed at burbage
Different jobs jasper  ;)
