Does anyone have any idea what has happened to esotericbouldering.com? If anyone has the topo for Gollum's Cave could they please get in touch?
-
Esoteric Bouldering was created by Bristol local Andy Sainsbury and a friend of his. Unfortunately Andy moved to Australia a while ago and left it in the hands of his friend.
Rich and I at TCA talked to Andy before he left about taking it on and keeping it updated but sadly nothing came of it.
I'll give Andy a shout again and see what's happened.

If anyone has the topo's they could be put up here on the UKB wiki?

 (http://web.archive.org/web/20091013174137/http://esotericbouldering.com/sitemap.html) not sure if its got exactly what is required but its the first port of call when sites disappear.

Last time I tried the wiki wasn't configured to allow PDF uploads. I'm too lazy to check whether this has changed since though as quesadilla's are calling.

I've just allowed it in the Wiki.
However there's a 2mb filesize limit (default set by PHP) - can change this if it's too restrictive.
-
Might be an idea to up it to 5 or 10, once you put a few pics in PDFs they start to bulk up...
-
Changed to 5 meg...

Excellent :)

Think I may still have a (rather dirty) copy of the original topo, I could upload it if anyone wanted? :)

Good news for Bristol boulderers.
I have just sorted out a load of Bristol topos that i made a while ago and will hand them over to TCA next time i go down there. Included are Huntsham, Ring road boulders, Bourton Combe, Winterbourne, Pigs hole Cheddar, a few eliminates topos, and the beginnings of a Bristol 7-8 list (which is totally out of date now but in WORD, so can be updated by Beastly and his crew of new problem machines) Basically its 'esoteric bouldering' minus Gollums cave which i don't have.
Will keep you posted.

You could also upload them to the wiki on ukb...

If you do then you upload the file here (http://ukbouldering.com/wiki/index.php/Special:Upload) and should then link to it from either here (http://ukbouldering.com/wiki/index.php/Topos) or preferably from the more structured section of the Wiki for Bristol (http://ukbouldering.com/wiki/index.php/Bristol).
The Topos (http://ukbouldering.com/wiki/index.php/Topos) section is a nice idea but it needs structure (and of course more content than the one incorrect entry). At a bare minimum I'd say area headings based on geography internationally, and then sub-divided within each country, kind of like the Venues (http://ukbouldering.com/wiki/index.php/Venues) section has been set up as. I'd presonally vote for removing the Topos section as it is in favour of the later.

No great loss.

Excellent news. Thanks. I went out to the ring road boulders the other day to take some photos with an idea to re-create the guide if the files were missing. Saves me a job now.
