Walked for an hour today into the hills to try my project. Got there, and it transpires that some fucker has nicked my pad. There was a choice of three, and they took the best one.
Sorry - this is not news, but thought it was a good way to grab attention. I won;t mention the boulder, but its in Wales, and gets no traffic whatsoever - its a fucking long walk.
If anyone's mate has rocked up lately with a blue Metolius Boss Hogg (hardly used), with a carpeted inside, please let me know. Or, if you are the thieving toe rag, you can hand it in at V12 or Indy, no questions asked.
The other way is that I see you with it (I will know its mine), and this will hurt. Can you fucking believe it? I am livid. Again, I will know its mine...

Ah balls! Back around!
-
Done- sorry. Must admit I only skimmed his text
-
What do you mean you've changed the offensive bits?
I can still see c.j.d's post which somehow seems to think that it's O.K to imply that gypsies are thieves. I'm pretty strung out on back ache medicine and wine, but I carefully reread the post to make sure that I hadn't missed anything.
I apologise to anyone - (clm) for my coments but I'd hoped that it was obvious that my comment was evidently about the fact that casual racism against gypsies seems to be becoming completely acceptable in polite society.
Racism is never acceptable. And I appreciate that comments on forums can be misinterpreted. Sorry again for any offense caused.
-
Yes but it doesn't say anything about gypsies. Forget that it ever said that please. His message is still valid even if the way he said it wasn't.
-
Oh you mean I deleted your comment, which yes I understood was in response to Cjd. What I'm saying is that I have removed the racism and the responses to it - to make it about the fact that chris' pasa were stolen, as Chris still has a valid message and axe to grind. You've now turned it back round to the racism!
-

whats that about gypsies?
-
They're the fucking bomb! I heard they rescue baby dolphins from tuna factories with nets made from the hair of virgins
-
True dat. I hear they also clear litter from welsh hillsides. Salt of the earth.
-

Which hairs?
Bugger, did I say that out loud?
-

must be hair from very young gypsies....as they'll soon be sexually assaulted/kidnapped at appleby fair, or as they call it "grabbing" (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=grabbing)
-
That sucks Chris. Hope it makes it's way back somehow! I'll have 2 blue boss hogs with me on Saturday but can guarantee they were stolen from the local wall and not an isolated boulder out in the hills
-
Okay, okay. Point taken. Thieving gypsy climbers. Sorry!! Thieving bloody climbers. Jesus, you've got to be careful not to offend anyone these days, especially cage fighting caravan dwellers.
-
Actually, on a re-think. The reference 'Thieving Gypsies' seems to offend. I've had travelling friends for years who would laugh at the reference (and have).
The fact here, without resorting to apparent racism, is that no one has commented on the action itself - theft. I guess because its foam, it's okay? God - climbers - you have to fucking love em - the moral standards of a bloody gypsy, the lot of them.
-
im sure many people wont class it as theft when something is left miles from knowhere, seemingly abandoned and also many people wont bother commenting as your initial post wasnt exactly eloquently put and was obnoxious and threatening

To be fair if it was a 'traveller' they probably thought they'd scored a nice new double bed that somebody had dumped :) :lets_do_it_wild:
I'll never forget pulling up at a crag in Avon Gorge to find a van full of pykies ripping the paving slabs up from around the public toilets and loading them into their transit van, this in broad daylight at 10 in the morning.
You're right though, theft amongst climbers sucks arse and I hope you find the culprit.

So, having three pads, under tarp, underneath a pretty awesome boulder would lead you to think abandoned. What a fucking prick. There's eloquent for you you fucking idiot.
Again, the sub-standards of a bunch of cunts.
-
Chris maybe someone found them and didn't think people should be stashing pads in the mountains just to make a long walk-in a bit easier. I'm guessing if they found them then they can't have been that well hidden. They could have taken em to make a point. You know, those "leave only footprints" low-impact wankers.
-

Come on this is ridiculous.
-
Log pile please
-
My goodness, what a kerfuffle
I can see where you lot are coming from about the use of certain language, but to want to logpile a topic that is genuine is a bit odd.
It sounds most like a climber took it, since they selected the best pad to misappropriate. I remember a few years back folk in the highlands having gear nicked out their tent and it was definitely by fellow climbers, since the bottom of the tent was torn up by crampons.
I used to write my name on my pads in permenant marker, just in case. Bit late for that kind of advice :sorry:
-
Its nice to think of climbers as a higher moral breed but its not the case. In the last year I've had a pad, quickdraws and insitu lower off clips from some a55 stuff nicked.depressing, really depressing!
-
I blame climbing walls for introducing the rabble to the former pursuit of gentlemen. The scoundrels!

I used to think like that too, but there's a nice cross section of all walks of life partaking in the bloddering and climbing.
The main thing is if it was climbers that you are quite likely to bump into the offending party :boxing:
-
Hope someone feels guilty and hands it in somewhere for you Chris.
Or preferably you catch someone out with it and they receive the deserved cuff.
And while i'm at it i'm pretty fed up with all this defending of pickeys. Firstly it was used in tongue in cheek way and was not nasty to travellers per say, i don't believe any that i know would be offended. I know a fair few travellers from accross the spectrum and am sorry to say the majority wouldn't hesitate to rob off any one other than there granny. On the whole the stereotype is pretty well deserved.
-
Someone's plaited the mane and rode away on my high-horse
Hope you get your mat back.

let me know when you are positive

im sorry but i wouldnt ever consider leaving something like a pad in the middle of knowhere, its just tempting fate which has happened in this case.dont see as it can be theft though when things are seemingly abandoned.maybe not abandoned to climbers but maybe to others.the climbing sites are awash with tales like this(minus the language) so i dont get why people risk it,i wouldnt.

All in all this isn't a classic thread. Locked.

and, I hadnt noticed the redirection topic was offensive as well, so I am going to delete that one!
