Anyone know what's happened ?
I heard that the internet finally achieved sentience, and UKC was the first thing it got rid of.
-
The title of this thread is petty and pointless, and reminds me of playground antics taunts at primary school :(
-
agree - one for the shitheap?
-
Wasn't intended to be. One of us has a malfunctioning sense of humour - probably me. :kiss1:
-
Or it could be me. Its just that UKC is more than just one person and the title comes across as personally antagonistic as opposed to humorous.
-
Use of the word 'Peaks' would be the most inflammatory bit on UKC. I will need time to adjust my thinking.
-
Take it easy Simon.
UKC goes down like this quite predictably.
The evil overlord(s) of ukc are training their technical staff to never take holidays. Whenever he dares to take, for example, a week off to go to Kalymynos, the evil overlord(s) go into the server room and kick the crap out of various machines until something breaks, whilst muttering "this'll teach 'im".

Bloody hell. And I thought it was UK Climbing which was famous for the odd sense of humour bypass???

I have noticed that if you mention the name "Mick Ryan" around here there is a distinct drop in temperature (so to speak.)
Wonder why that could be?

Someone should really set up a UKC emergency overflow board, for troubled times like these.
-
Rumour has it that it suffered a DDoS attack and might still be, or are just suffering the after effects. Maybe they should stop banning members for no good reason....
I mean come on, Rick Astley isn't "that" offensive... "bad" yes, but worth banning for posting video of?? He climbed up the charts which is more "climbing" than most of the people on UKC get up to...

It was never E14 to start with. I know this because from my comfortable armchair I am best placed to make such judgements. I climb HVS and have done since last week. I therefore know what an accurate grade really means - and what it means to truly climb something on-sight. If the route had been climbed by someone who had a solid grounding in HVS and therefore understood the lower limit of E grades, then I might expect the E14 grade to be accurate. However, these things are only climbed by people who have polluted their minds and bodies by climbing other E graded stuff, so these decisions are just plain wrong.
Although Mr Ryan has performed a great service to us all by introducing the tried and tested USA decimal system to the peak (everyone will no doubt agree with me that we should continue to make the UK as much like the USA as we can), I am happy to volunteer my services to grade new E routes for people.
Well done to Mr Lee for finding a temporary home for all us dedicated UKCers.
What are all those animated little pictures of yellow faces above the box that I am typing in?

Back up now. Out of the shit heap and into the errr...

I'm staying here on the shit heap to scrape my pustules with some broken bits of potery that I found lying around. Besides, I like the little yellow happy people.
-
Pottery or poetry? I like the idea of self harming with stanzas of Wordsworth.

Papercuts can be really nasty if they're deep. :'(
