Heading to Berlin for a week with family. Anyone know of any centres with good training areas. Can't find much online
Cheers

I visited Ostbloc and was not blown away. Large centre, poor board with in-situ chumps stretching underneath. No strong climbing scene there at all, in my clumpy hire shoes I was easily the best there (I'm mediocre). Worth a one-off visit if you're close, would not go back

Whenever I come to a new bouldering gym I just try to climb as many boulders as possible. Four-five years ago the setting in Ostbloc was quite tricky and it took me about five hours to complete the entire circuit of problems around my flash level. Time well spent.

Not an uncommon problem at German bouldering walls, see also Boulderwelt Ost in Munich. Menacingly looking & sounding sketchy directly above them usually does the trick.

I thought Ostbloc was pretty good, I mean the circuit, the problems were well set and it was spacious, not too crowded, but I just climbed the problems, not on a board, if they even had one. Worth a visit imo...

Nah. That might give them the idea that they have some business being there in the first place.

I think I went to Ostbloc when I had a conference in Berlin (is it the one next to the river?). The board thing upstairs was shit, but the problems were decent, as you'd expect from a modern bouldering centre. They have an ok campus board and a peg board too IIRC

Ended up at boulderklub, dont have a board. But well set basic problems, less comp style than most modern centres. Decent gym

OK, haven't been to Berlin in many years. Does anyone know which bouldering gym is currently the best?
