Seen a photo of the valley on FB, looks very snowy. Was probably ok yest but after today's drizzle it'll need some sun.

Can you see this?

I'm not a local, so no expert, but if it's sunny there might be something. Should be a nice walk if not...

Anyone care to guess if it will dry today before the rain arrives again this evening?

Quite damp to the South of Manchester this morning with a good bit of rain overnight:  but a stiff breeze could dry it out.

Cheers Sloper, will keep an eye on it. Might just work and try to get out in the week.

Anyone know how green (and climb able) Wimbleberry is at the moment?

I went for a walk in chew on saturday. It was raining pretty heavy but from what I could see the bottom boulders were no greener than usual. I could not see the Tank properly or anything higher.

So is Wimberry like Earl, fine in heavy rain?

It doesn't benefit from the rain repelling forcefield that Earl does.

And it gets too green to climb on at certain (I've forgotten when) times of year...

Thanks Grubes.

I should add I was on the path up to robs rocks and not walking through the boulder field

Hoping to detour a visit family for a look at Directissima tomorrow. Is this a very silly idea?  I have only been there once in summer so have no idea how green it gets at this time of year. Ta!

I'm no Wimberry expert - but living that side of the pennines, its been dry - clear and cold...

But... the greenness can be significant in winter from experience. In other words, no idea about the green - but the general connies will be fine...

As nearby back up plans - been to Nont Sarahs? (Buckstones)... A burly 7A+ traverse/nose of Pig in a Pokey - and other harder variations can provide enough for a work out...? Slap bang next to the road too...

Hero, thanks very much. Pig in a Pokey looks mega.

There are also a couple of 7's (allegedly) on the crags above the road - but I've never checked them out. A couple of vids of them somewhere on the web.

I was short on time and took a punt on Wimberry, it was all dry and a gentle brush sorted out any bits of green.

Cheers for the tips!

Anyone been in the last few days? Much snow about or good to go?

Wet this morning if the weather outside in Manchester is a good indicator.. might have had some fresh sleet/snow up there in the same band of rain that came through before dawn. Might be OK this afternoon if there's no more precipitation.. not much wind here though...

Was passing by so went up for a look, absolutely appalling. The only dry problem I could find was Angus RH and the sit start (really good!).
