Anyone know how this great stone is condition wise? Want to head up this weekend as it looks nice but after all this rain is just going to be ruined? Any info would be great!
Cheers
-
Don't waste your fuel chap! It's been minging all day, more of the same forecast for tomorrow. I can give you an update tomorrow night if you want?
-
Tomorrow afternoon would be good if possible? I want to climb on rock. Carrock fell be dry?
-
It is still gopping I'm afraid. There is snow on the tops and it was chilly this morning.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
-
Have you been today? Definitely not worth it? A friend phoned someone at Needle Sports in Keswick and they said it could be ok tomorrow? Is Carrock fell worth the drive?

The Black Font will be dry ;)
-
It's actually getting out really nice now but I'd be very worried about seepage at the Styan as it has been constant rain for two days pretty much.

Has anyone been recently?
Going up from yorkshire at the weekend & was wondering if it is dry.
-
Went wednesday eve. Was horrible, bottom half sweating out all foot holds and sits wet. However according to 8a, its seen some action today, having said that those problems were kind dry on wednesday as well!
I also drove from Yorkshire and its a painfully long drive for it to be wet, apparently all limestone in S Lakes is also in bad cons!
-
Cheers for the info!
-
Bowderstone pretty much all dry today if someone could post on the thread #RubbishSignal #isitgreasy
-
Anyone know what state she's in?
-
Not bad this evening, some dampness about and a few drips off some top holds but generally ok. Backside has usual small puddle and pretty muddy. nice breeze coming through so no midges!
-
Has anyone been since it stopped pissing it down.Thinking of heading up from yorkshire on saturday.
-
Bump this.
I'm up this weekend and wouldn't mind a visit. Cheers.
-
Was ok yesterday, bottom of the Bowderiser was damp as usual. Most other stuff on the Ladder face was dry.
-
Now then, anyone know what sort of state she'll be in tomorrow?
Is it cold enough that the last few days worth of snow will still be frozen or has it warmed up enough to thaw and start dripping?
-
She'll be puckaroo by Thursday Chris so why don't hold your horses and wait for the cavalry to arrive :bounce:
-
Does anyone know if the stone is under two foot of snow and surrounded by an inch of ice or climbable?
-
Looks dry at ground level on these http://www.keswick.org/visitor-information/weather/webcams/ (http://www.keswick.org/visitor-information/weather/webcams/) but with it being above freezing over there today, I'd say there was a fair chance of it being a drippy mess!
-
You dont listen to my advice and you ignore my beta there not much more I can do for you Palmer!
-
Anyone been to the bowderstone today or yesterday and know if its dry please?

Cheers.

I was there on Wednesday, it was absolutely mint. Everything was bone dry. We had a small smattering of rain last night but its been dry today so should be fine.
-
Had a wee hike up there today with tc, didn't climb but fondled some holds and conditions were good, everything was dry. Keen to get reacquainted with the place, it's been a while .
-
Can confirm it was fantastic Saturday, however, Sunday morning had led to some foothold seepage, and a few of the holds on Picnic wound up being damp (resulting in a rather nice ping from high up)
-
Was it you on Picnic I was chatting too? If so, did you get it ticked?
-
Aye. I'd already ticked the stand when we spoke if I remember rightly. I dropped the last move of the sitter not long after you lot left. My mate who was there too ticked the sit and stand, along with Coming up for air. Decent weekend trip really. Got along to St Bees on the Sunday too, which was nice for a look in.
-
Waddage for making the trip and for crushing. Was a touch minging Sunday. Did you get stuff done at St Bees? I hope you got on Headbanger!
-
Jumped straight on it (after having a bit of a mare dropping my pad and watching it roll down the hill and into the abyss, only to find it after a good half hour searching). I couldn't work out how to pull on the start move at all (from the low right hand crimp), but my mate ticked it within a couple hours. Didn't fancy wandering much further along given the greasy nature of walking anywhere there, but I'll definitely be heading back out when I get the chance.
-
Anyone been lately? Thinking about driving over Sunday possibly.
-
Not been to the cobble but have been working down borrowdale a bit this week, was OK midweek but it has lashed it down for the last two days. Proper Lake District rain as well, my prediction for Sunday is not good. Can update tomorrow if wanted.
-
If you don't mind that'd be handy, I'll try closer to home push comes to shove though.
-
Was there this morning. ... good nick but very cold wind.... but lots of rain pm in Borrowdale

BREAKING NEWS!!
Strange coloured object visible in the sky! Yes, it is actually sunny, well, partly sunny and partly cloudy. You could be in luck for tomorrow. I'm off up the valley shortly so will call in at the Styan and check her fettle.
-
Update.
Had a quick look with my girls, not good I'm afraid. Bowderiser wet (as always ) top of Picnic wet, power pinch wet, start of lateral wet, most stuff on back side wet. Overall, wet. But rain is holding off still, might be a tad better if it stays away.
-
Might try and leave it til Monday then and hit somewhere more local tomorrow. Cheers for the updates though!
-
You know the old saying, red sky in the morning.....

Fuck it, I'd quest up. It's gonna be a mint day.
EDIT I can't embed photos on this forum any more!!!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ANYONE HEADING TO THE BOWDERSTONE
The normal route there is closed at the Watendlath road end, so don't even bother heading that way. There are diversions in place that send you back out of Keswick and through Portinscale instead. If you are travelling alone the A66 from Penrith just go straight past Keswick (all 3 entrances) and follow signs for Portinscale, should I buy add about 5-10 minutes to the journey. Me and Old Cheese are headed there tomorrowso wwill report back as to whether it's worth making the journey.
-
Any update on what conditions at the bowderstone are like?
-
Thought I'd update this as its been a while. All good today, nice and dry. :2thumbsup:
-
Is it worth taking the pads up to Keswick with me? After all this rain? :-\
-
And snow...
-
Yes, bring them! It was pretty dry until recent snow, so tings have been ok in the last week. If the Bowderstone is wet you'll probably still find dry stuff at Carrock, it's more exposed and takes no seepage. Saturday morning looking ok.
-

How was it this weekend? I'm thinking of going on Saturday?
-
Dry as a bone yesterday, even Bowderiser was basically dry!
-
Resurrection.
Potentially heading to the Lakes on Saturday and wondering how the Bowderstone's looking at the moment? Its forecast rain on Friday but the Saturday's looking dry. Worth a punt?
Thanks
-
Anyone been in the last few days? Looking like the weekend could be ok.
-
Anyone got an idea what the Bowderstone will be like this weekend? Planning Carrock, but showers might necessitate a plan B.
