This still makes me laugh too much :)
We heard a goldfinch and raven as well although we would probably have heard that anyway as it was so loud

shootin' the shit / Cunty Drone Man - rural myth or real life rock star?

A week or two ago I heard a report of someone filming themselves on T Crack with a drone and shouting "CUNT!" on each failed attempt

I initially wrote this off as typical Sheffield grit boulderers superiority chat; probably trying to make fun of southerners like they do round here.

However, this week I was near there myself and could hear the gentle whine of what I think was a drone. It was pretty quiet compared to the drones I am used to hearing around Burbage valley and Stanage, so I didn't feel my usual need to stride over and start an argument - in fact, I was intrigued to see if this was the Cunty Drone Man. I asked Dolly if he could hear the whining possible drone noise - he could.

The main thing we could hear was a willow warbler singing away -  a bit like a male chaffinch with a funny accent. All of a sudden we heard the familiar THWUMP of a body hitting foam - swiflty followed by a loud "CUNT!".

This was too much for us. We lay face down on our mats crying with laughter at the realisation that Cunty Drone Man was probably real.

As it happens, we were having too much fun climbing rough brown rocks to investigate further; and actually it felt better to leave the myth uninvestigated.

Has anyone else heard Cunty Drone Man?

How does he keep his drone so quiet?

Has he done T Crack yet?

Is there more than one CDM?

I am not interested in identifying or "outing" CDM; rather, I think we should celebrate him in all his cuntitude.

Does seem like there are money spinners to be had. Identify areas where the government want to direct money. Set up a charity an 'official' sporting body focussed on that area. Pitch for grants. Pay yourself a decent salary as CEO.

You're essentially describing the model of GB Climbing / a.n. other sporting governing bodies.

Big windfall coming for Old Oaks PLC, a charitable organisation dedicated to helping ageing Sheffield landlords enjoy the delights of continental bolt-clipping

Not a bad thought.

I know more than one "social entrepreneur" who has done this - and paid some mega pension contributions to themselves as well

It pisses me off how so many people use charities to make lots of money for themselves - I have contemplated becoming a stealth ninja charity profiteer assassin in order to encourage people to behave better, but I've seen too many Batman films to feel confident that the outcome would justify my actions

M - Pre - drive to wall 20mm edge pulls - up to (80kg x 5) x 3.
Wall. Board. Felt a little bit lacking in oomph initially, but that passed fairly quickly. Trying to do more dynamic / Kilter board-style / check me out leaping like Tarzan type problems on the board at the wall because the home board is proving so good for the opposite / I can barely hang on half the time. Getting much better at the former (from a very low starting level) but it does tend to trash my skin a bit.
T - 50 mins on the home board, then some wide-weighted pull-ups later on. Felt like a bit much tbh.
W
T - Spent a few hours putting the rest of the holds on the home board and so knackered by the end that I didn't actually climb anything significant.
F - Day / evening out in London, inc unintended boozing.
S - Wall. Was expecting it to be a bit of a write-off thanks to woozy head, but started on the board and felt fucking great. I think actually doing some proper strength training again + actually climbing quite a lot (rather than nursing various muscle pulls pre Font) has already had quite a positive effect. Booked another Font trip for early / mid July and wondering whether I can lose 10kg by then...

From T&Cs:

Quote
When you sign the application form, you also make some declarations. One of the declarations is an agreement to assign windfalls to charity.
You agree that if we transfer our business to a company or another body corporate within five years of you becoming a shareholding member of Skipton Building Society, any conversion benefits to which you may become entitled as a result of that transfer will go to charity. If you have any questions about our charitable assignment scheme, please ask us.

Assuming you weren't doing this for charity?

Good spot!
