If he used this technique to repeat Weak Skyweelers problem in 25 days then what grade would it be then?

all this talk of dyno distances reminds me of when a collegue or some tradesman doing a job at your house realises you climb and starts to ask "so how high do you climb then"? i.e. its all meaningless bollocks. i don't see any of these distanc heads crushing the wimberry dyno.

I agree, the 8a.nu website is uttershit, slow, confusing, visually almost offensive, and worst of all willy waving to the max. Takes the cool factor out of climbing and makes it into a very dull sport about numbers. The log book thing is a good idea though, on a positive note.... peace out!!

I'm always amused when you look at a problem on 8a.nu and the grade says 7a+/7b/7b+/7c/7c+.  Utter arse, so it is.

When I'm feeling unloved and underappreciated I contemplate setting up an 8a scorecard and claiming loads of problems at erroneously low grades, purely in the hope that the moderator will refer to me as a "great and humble person"  :boohoo:

Fiend, to be fair you've puntered mrjonathan for his inability to use quotation.  Bit harsh
Although, I haven't looked at the link and doubt I will.

Ooops, rectified and re-balanced. I don't want to discourage the general trend of cocking up quotation ;)

8a.nu feels like being on a f reg coach, travelling somewhere. Someones drawn a cock on the fold down tray, and the driver is wearing mirrored shades.

When you can crush like Dave you can take the piss out of him and forget about all the excellent development he's done around Yorkshire - until then do shut up please.

I wasn't taking the piss and I do indeed know how much hard work he's done and I'm very grateful for it- some of the most excellent problems at Brimham are his, as well as at many other places, however, usually after he climbs them, not due to him but due to the nature of the rock, the problems clean up or get brushed or whatever and become easier, hence the massive grade debates which take place on yorkshiregrit.com, of GCW has been involved after he crushed the Grouch t'other day. Sorry, didn't mean to cause offence!

Plus I'm genuinely scared of that actually happening...

Hello 8a. nu haters, if you dont like it good for you, its easy to make fun. I find the site very useful in many ways, is it half rubbish, yes. Is UkB better absolutly not. 8a is brilliant for planning trips, its very good for the info on lots of routes, you can save your self a great deal of wasted time, money and effort,  my climbing partner is 5 foot 2 and its great for her to check and see if a route is possible for some one her size, and actually humbling for me to see that small girls have done stuff I moan about. I like this site for its sometimes fantastic sense of humour, and the members above average leval of ability, but you know you have to sift through a great deal of muck   to get anything worthwhile. I have noticed that in the past you had a lot more top people here and have sucessfully stopped them from taking part. Big Malc used to post here, and Jesus what that man doesnt know is less than the collection at a Scotish church service . 8a. nu is not perfect far from it, but it continues to inspire me with some of its content. Dont take this the wrong way, UKB has helped me to, but these sites are very what its members put in, and there is way too much negative stuff here. Stevie.

Having been on the board since the early days, I don't get this? Did malc ever actually post? I don't think so. I think he still reads the board, I don't know where you got the idea he or anyone else was driven away. There have been a few examples of folk appearing, making tits of themselves and then disappearing, but that's another issue.

Three posts, assuming that was actually Malc. Don't quite see how anyone "successfully stopped him taking part" though.  ::)

as far as I know the only person to be (repeatedly) "stopped from taking part" is mick ryan. and he's hardly "top people", quite the opposite.

Do you agree that sometimes people are rude on this site for no good reason and this has put some people off. And perhaps 8a.nu does have some uses, after all there are a few UKB people who use 8a and participate in its ranking etc. Its still raining might go for a run, Stevie.

Who has been put off? I've not been on here that long, it's genuine question as it's not happened in my experience.

And perhaps 8a.nu does have some uses,

I've already posted that yes, I do think it has it's uses. The bullshit articles are a minor annoyance (quite funny really). The issue I have is that the website itself is so bloody hard to use. There's no excuse for it being so shit when they are always boasting about the volume of use they're getting (and when they charge such extortionate rates for advertising (see Neil's post)).
