I saw three geese flying south over the M62 this morning... (I didnt clock what colour their feet were Nai,..) and needed to wear a beanie whilst bouldering this AM.. Conditions were not brilliant though, so possibly JB's tortoise is only stirring in a pre waking slumber stretch - rather than poking its noggin out...

"Make the call, make it happen" as the old advert goeas.

Just walked from garage and I can't feel my face. And driving through Torry I saw a girl wearing a fox hat.

(And before anyone cracks the old "wear the fox hat" joke, it's just south of River Dee).

You want to be careful walking around Torry, I heard someone got shot with a BB gun there once.

Trust me I wouldn't walk. I drove to garage then walked down Welly Road.

The girls are still wearing vest tops here in Liverpool. Mind you, when aren't they?

Lets not forget you're in Aberdeen, where the grit isn't. I had a walk up to see t'owd man this morning, but he wasn't there. Seems like it's not quite yet.

Well it is now bleeding cold with days hitting a not-quite-balmy 13. This is going to drop slowly over the next few weeks.

The E10ers amongst us might want to wait for Sat 20 Oct 2012
 Weather    3 °C    7 mph    13 mph    Wind direction    95 %    1034 mB

but for the rest of us, it's very definitely grit time.

And I'm off to a fooking wedding tomorrow!

I've had the heating on, and almost at the point of putting the thick quilt on. The call must be close.

do you mean that you have put the heating on or that the heating has been on in your house (or you have been tricked into putting it on for the benefit of social services etc.)?

Mrs Starfish gets all soft about the kids' teeth chattering at night, which just blurs the true state of conditions

It felt like amazing conditions last night on the way back from the Broadfield (Thai Beef Pie, hit that) but during the daylight hours it's still a lovely temperature for choss bothering. Definitely grit temps in our flat though I am not putting the sodding heating on  :jab:

I did pit it on once in september but only when we had all the sash windows open when the gloss was drying. Otherwise I put a jumper on an MTFU.

Would those that hold the keys to the grit (?), please reassure us that it will be called in the not too distant.

That easterly that was feathering the waves into shape down here today surely must've made for mint conditions on the grit.

Some South Westers have heard a whispering in said breeze and are making plans to make the pilgrimage North Eastwards to surf some gritstone.  Could this be a sign?

I had to scrape frost off my car this morning. I haven't seen any midges in weeks.

Fortunately not. Grit season moves south at the rate of 10km/day though so it should be with you soon.
