This sort of day usually marks the start of the grit season.

Not quite as bad as yours, but: Seeing the upcoming mint conditions I eagerly set the alarm last night for 5.30am so I could get a few hours in this morning before a busy day eating cake at friends houses and escorting children to parties etc.

Sadly I forgot to actually turn it on so I was awoken by the kids at 7am, too late to get out. It was cold and sunny and amazing and I was gutted.

Forget your two headed birds and clumsy squirrels Jim has hit the nail squarely on it's proverbial head. We don't need an early compensatory grit call after Dobs lime-call-ball-drop-actually-an-egg-trip-yolk-on-face farce earlier in the year (sorry to drag it up Dob).

Know what you mean - was cold at Cratcliffe yesterday but conditions didn't seem that good. Thought it was just me having an off day but maybe not.

Well it certainly felt the best it has been earlier today - the friction at Burbage boulders was so good it was almost cheating.

Hurrah! The Grit Light ͭͫ (2'c or below) came on in the car this morning, it got down to 0'c briefly. Conditions were good this evening too.

A wise call. Dob's self-omeletting can be forgotten now.

I had a great evening session at Gib Torr tonight. Dashed over straight from work and met a few keen locals, warmed up and got cracking. Great friction, not too cold once warmed up (car said 1deg). I left the crag at 18:35 with 5 probs under my belt, 2 of them new ticks... for me.

Had a brutally cold night session at Whitehouses yesterday, it was truly toe tinglingly cold. Worked out all the beta on Under Rumsfeld though in fantastic conditions. What a cool problem!

with temperatures forecast to be close to or slightly below average, we believe the most significant aspect of this winter will be the very much below average winter rainfall

Sounds promising. The runes at Khute yesterday were telling a similar story.

In a perfect world, there would be even more snow than last year (there's loads of things I would love to snow-ball), it would be sunnier and brighter than last year, colder than last year, and all roads would be cleared within minutes of the snow falling.

But failing that, I'll accept less snow.

Absolutely cooking in the sun today

Temps still in double figures and too much greenness still around, could be a late calling this year due to the unseasonal warm spells.

Lovely trad weather at MIllstone today. The runes suggest a late call, but things could change overnight.

Has Lagers blanked yet?

Walking to the car this evening, it felt proper chilly. I'm sure it'd be good for lantern sessions, but it's far too warm during the day for proper sticky grit.
