Age of Reason still gets E6 6b AFAIK, but it's more like a 7a/+ boulder problem to a plod from what I've been told. More like E5 6c apparently.

Dobbin speaking of the Cornice -
Quote
Walked past yesterday - utterly totally fucked. An actual stream running down the crag.

Which Cornice? Is Brachiation dry, or are all cornices sopping?
Thanks
Jon

It was Age of Reason, seems to be some debate about grade but it was just good to be climbing dry rock.  It was really dirty and full of cobwebs.

Back on topic, it was great routing weather at Almscliff on Tuesday. Infact it was double-duvet cold whilst belaying. I reckon you miss out on the opportunity to do stuff on the colder, greener, shadier bits of grit if you wait too long to kick off the season.

Ah.... so it was you.  I was the fella on the top deck who stopped for a chat (after doing Dolphin Belly in terrible style) before mooching off for another session of dispondantly flapping at Underhand and the Keel.

I reckon we are on the cusp of the grit season.... I have already started to suffer from finger numbness and my session lengths have become reliant on the rate at which I drink my thermos.  A few more weeks and I will be forced to leave a dry crag due to insensate digits... only then is the grit season for called.

Bonjoy if you insist on going to the windiest roadside crag in England then I should hope you or your belayer remembers your 2 downies.  There's plenny of sheltered in nick chuffing crags about. Almscliff may be on more than one level like a tenner in a dog turd, but it's never midgy when I've been there.

Been hearing mutterings about this filtering down from Yorkshire...

I can't believe the conditions have been met yet but it's already later than last year's call..

Anyone....

North Westerly predicted for tomorrow which should help for one whole day at least though whether it will be enough to get me up Strawberries is another matter. There is definitely an autumnal feel to the air in the early mornings now though so it's close.

outrageous.
As I've said before the grit doesn't really need calling but what the hell, I'm calling it.
Awesome conditions up at the cliff this evening. Baltic by matts roof and even managed to get up dreamland despite warm rock due to the sun on it

Forget it Hillyard. The 'cliff is no barometer of grit season, you get great nick in july. There's not been a frost since may, I got midged at remergence tonight: no call.

Had great conditions at remergance a few july's ago when I was working the fig also
