Suit loan needed!
September 04, 2008, 09:25:38 pm
Call me a pikey, but i've a job interview next week and would love to borrow a whistle (or just smart trousers) off someone - a Sheffield based, skinny 6-footer preferably...

Thanks in advance. And Beer for the lender. Of course.

When next week you pikey? I've got a load of dry cleaning to take in this weekend so would probably only be able to assist in the latter part of the week. Unless you were ok with my powder blue Ben Sherman wedding suit of course.............

And this is not just any suit.

I've got a plain black one you could borrow if you like Joe. With a selection of shirts and ties.

At a striking 5'7 sadly I don't think any of mine will fit, otherwise you're welcome to try a jacket (i'm about a 40 / 42" chest)

Isn't this false advertising?

(seeing as though I was suffering from half masts on Saturday night I think mine would be useless)

I was referring to my trousers being cut a little high at the ankle line, nothing more.  :spank:

Although I can't argue against the fact that a suit is ridiculously cheap in Asda, Tesco's etc. the fact is that it won't look like its been tailored on Saville Row, you can tell Marks and Spencers denim a mile off so a cheap suit is going to stick out like a sore thumb.

If it's shirts and ties your after, hit Primark. I just bought 3 pairs of slacks, 7 shirts and 5 ties for 70 quid.

i'm sure it looks the bees balls but it will still also look like a cheap suit.
40 quid might get you a reasonable tie or one cuff link.

That was for multiple items, you could pick up a shirt, tie and trousers for 18 quid, chuck in another tenner you get the jacket.

There was something in the Times today (not bought by me) about Aldi doing a pinstripe (not completely polyester) suit for circa 15-18 quid. Some ponce went to a high class establishment in London to see if it cut it. In summary it did.

This may sound glib or poncy or just an excuse, but I fundamentally don't need a suit, so buying one is a waste of materials and and money. Secondly, I try to avoid buying cheap clothing with a (doubtless?) dubious ethical background. Blah blah blah.

Hit the charity shops, supporting a good cause with your money and recycling, winner.
Of course you'll end up with a suit for a 36 stone dwarf that smells vaguely of urine soaked cabbage, but hey you can't have everything.
