We are fliying to milan malpensa and then getting a train to bellinzona and bus to magic woods. Seems quite hassle-free.....

what about lugano

nobody flies there, or at least no-one flies there direct from the UK. you'd probably have to fly to zurich and get a swiss internal flight.

Just tell Keith that New Base Log was actually first climbed by Fred in 1984 and was the first 8b+ in the world.

I'm sure he'd be round your gaff within two hours, and you'd both be in Magic Grades in a further four. Fuck airport check-in queues.

while we are on the topic of magic woods. Could anyone shed a little light on the best time of year to go.  Currently have plans for this year but if i get stronger this winter ( believe i read you want to be climbing al least in the 7B-7C range to get the most out of it?) its defo an option for next year.

Cheers
Tim

looked into a direct flight swiss air from heathrow to lugano, the wife wants to come join us for a few days but dont want to spend hours traving to airports to pick her up. Just wondering if anyone else had the experience of flying into lugano as its only an hour from the woods.

We flew Swiss Air last summer from Mancs to Basle. Think it was about 80 quid return and was worth every penny. Loads of legroom and we were plied with a complementary meal and alcohol. One of us also managed to net a large basket of swiss milk chocolate for free.

Check here Neil.

can highly recomend flybe from mcr to malpansa, 2 hour flight, 2 hour drive to magic grades, all new planes, 2+2, loads of legroom, if you go with dense you can join the mile high club. Magic

As this was to look for the quickest way for me to get to magic wood, I think I'll pass on that suggestion
<there is no smiley that quite sums up my feelings about your proposal >

looking like swissair is the best option as it would add on lots of extra time to get up to Manc.

I can highly recomend the low left start to snowstorm, just incase you've not gathered this by the other threads.
Its suits the lengthy, ex british junior champion types
