Buffalo Linkstation Help Please

Help.  Have just bought a Buffalo Linkstation which was all nice and easy to set up, copied over all my music, which took ages, and now the bloody thing won't connect to the network and comes up with a variety of error warnings none of which relate to the knowledge base on the Buffalo site.  Anyone got one of these NAS's or knows enough to help?

I assume that you have done the simple thing of turning it off and powering it on again - same with the modem itself just in case.

If you have done that (or do it and then it still doesn't work) what sort of error messages are you getting?

It's now settled down to a consistent HDD error (6 flashes of error led) whenever I switch it on and after about 5 minutes it shuts down.  I can't see it on my network or if plugged directly into my pc using network or usb cable.  Pressing the reset on the back doesn't do anything.
