Given the cost of flying with one could be £30 I'd say £20 for a good one for a week sounds fair enough.

We were thinking it would be easy money for you when we were there. I would probably agree with £5 a day, £20 a week, something along those lines for a reasonable quality pad.

thats good to here, i was thinking along the lines of 20 euros for the week, maybe five euros for the day. Espesially with the cost of bringing them over on the cheap airlines now.

My only concern with renting them is deposit. The cost to me to buy them is huge, even with my insider knowlage I still had to shell out close to 500 euros yesturday fot the pads

If you stay at my gites then pad rental would be covered in the deposit for the gites, but if you just want to rent one, i would have to charge 150 euros for the cost of the pad. does this sound fair?

cheers guys

What sort of pads have you bought? Have you thought about what you would do if they come back damaged, ie buckles broken, straps starting to detach, surface torn or badly abraided?

I have gone for triple pads, from Jo, for just this scenario, they are made up in barbazon, so if anything gets broke like that they can be easily replaced. The cost of the mat is slightly higher than i would have liked to pay but convenience of getting them replaced quickly is key

Another quick thought. Most people come over for 3 or 4 days and it now costs about 8 or 10 pounds to get them on a cheap airline. Are you thinking of doing a long weekend deal as well? What size and thickness do your mats open out to? This is something we would definitely be interested in.

I've just had a Canadien mate e-mail me asking whether I knew of anywhere that'll rent pads. I'll forward him your website!

just the regular ones, the big ones are still in production i think. But they are the same size as a standard DMM or Moon pad, and fold real small so you can navigate the forest without taking branges off the trees which I personally thing is a pain with a big pad.

Right what do you think of these prices, 10 euros for the weekend, up to 4 days, 20 euros for the week, or 5 euros for the day, I do have a tripple XL as well for renting The deposit would have to be 150 euros on all rentals unless you are staying at my place

thoughts?

I think that's a bargain. I don't see why anybody would bring there own mats unless you live miles away from the climbing.

Likewise, an excellent deal and one that will be taken up I think given the amount of people that ask me about crash pad rental when I'm over there.

Some friends started a small business renting out pads back in Christchurch, NZ (for Castle Hill) and I seem to remember that they did alright with it.

We tried to rent one in the climbing shop in CC and it was silly expensive. Ended up making our own out of matresses out the back of the rented campervan and a $5 tarp plus gaffer tape from the Warehouse. Luckily it's not muddy!
