Off to Malham for the weekend and we were hoping to get some grit bouldering in on the way.

I thought of widdop but its a bit of a detour. Anyone know where to head with minimum diversion (and minimum walk as encroaching darkness will be an issue)?

Depends on your route, and how much of a detour you want to make.

The sensible route will be up the m66 and then accross on the m65. Earl crag is one of the best bouldering venue's around, and one of a handfull of grit crags to still get good conditions at at this time of year. The bouldering is only a short walk from the car (if you park around the back) and isn't too far a detour from your route

It was hot, sweaty and greasy yesterday.  Still a good venue though.
