Raven tor tomorrow-dry?
May 26, 2008, 09:51:15 pm
Will the bouldering stay dry? I am planning a trip there tomorrow from 9am. Looks like there will be a good down poor in the early hours of the morning, then better from 8ish.

I reckon most things should be dry, barring morning condensation.

It was absolutely lashing it down last night and still raining this morning, I think the use of the phrase 'sticky damp' would be highly optimistic.

it'll be dry - it doesn't seep that fast. you might get some run-off at the RH end if its bad but that should be it.

Cheers for the advice. I did have a good session from 9-1pm. Everything I wanted to try/do was dry. The word sticky damp did get mentioned by a regular who was there, although I don`t think it was quite the mythical state. He said it was 7/10. I guess sticky damp is 10/10.  Good cold conditions i felt. There was a slight drissle , but also a slight breeze.

I am definitely a limestone bouldering /Ravens Tor convert.

Was it starting to seep at all by the time you left? And were any of the routes staying dry, or is that hugely optimistic?

Thanks.
