OAP bouldering
August 19, 2013, 01:16:33 pm
Bit of a geeky question, I know, but on behalf of a pal of mine who is keen to get his facts right for a little project he is working on, how many Brits have bouldered 8A at the ripe old age of 50 or more? With the exception of Haston, of course. We know about him.

Either you're being coy (and it's you  ;) ) or your pal is Manuel?

I didn't know Haston had bouldered 8a at 50.
Impressive.

I don't think I've ever been referred to as coy before. I must be mellowing with age. No, it's a genuine request for info on behalf of a mate who is making a film, which is loosely based around bouldering. I thought about enquiring on the other channel but you never quite know what that might provoke!

It's a reasonable inference from his 9a route tick that he is capable of 8A but has he actually done one?

The UKC'ometer is rising.....

Only likely candidate anywhere near 8A over here in Wales is Streaky - he did Jerry's Roof a few times once past the 50 mark. Mind you, 8A is quite a step up from that.

Google says born 1968; a year older than me therefore very, very young still. I'm sure he's got some lakes 8as so wired he will be doing them for the next 10 years.l
