Yeah - I know the problem and the climber well. I've done Black Magic a few times as has Bonjoy, I think, on his travels over here. Its Ducan Macinnis' (who posts on here as DM) shot.

Mainly I lurk and look at this thread occasionally.  Pretty chuffed to find my pic here  ;D

some shots of a HK project that nearly went down at the weekend - 34 deg temps didn't really help holding those slopers mind...

The Scarred for Life boulder is awesome, I tried a brilliant problem on the other side earlier in the year. Must go back.

Yeah probably. Graded as a problem but it's gotta be about E8 unless the difficulties are all low down. I wouldn't fancy it even if the top bit's about 4A though!

I think that might be the best looking climb I've ever seen.

May not be a quality boulderin pic but it's a pic of a quaility looking boulder. This is one of 2 boulders they are dumping in East London. What a great idea!!! Looks like there will be some good hard problems on there. Will try to make a visit next time in the big smoke. There a comp on them soon too:

Wowsers, what is the story? Is that a block that has been custom quarried to be bouldered on?? Where was it extracted? Looks like Portland stone or maybe Granite.

Cornish granite apparently! It must have been quarried but doesn't look quarried (apart from the shotholes). Part of an art installation.

Theres links on UKC somewhere

It looks class, I drove past one the other day and they are quite big.  Going to have to make a visit on the weekend and have a closer look.

ref. frankland's work; this from the compton verney faq:

"What is the lump of rock in the grounds? The rock is a sculpture by the artist John Frankland. ‘Untitled Boulder’ was commissioned in 2001 for the Compton Verney grounds. The boulder is a 70-tonne rock quarried from Portland stone and transported from the Dorset coast. The sculpture echoes the building material of the house and retains other references to architecture, climbing and the Land Art projects of the 1960s and 1970s.Please note that climbing of the boulder is not permitted."
