US Army Crash Pads
March 17, 2008, 01:53:17 pm
I came across a reference to a bouldering competition that the US Army held in Iraq. On this picture the mats look like some kind of army issue thing. Does the US army actually make these things? Interesting idea - I wonder if they used some of the research from Area 51 to develop them?

No chalk and bare feet in 40 degree heat. Nice.

I wonder if the British army make them too. Not that if they did any would actually be issued to the troops or they'd be made of sackcloth and feathers or something.

I like the idea of NASA and Stealth Bomber technology being used to make the ultimate crash pad, but as you say, the British Army probably expect our troops to supply their own protective equipment as usual.
