i just sold my old sony k800i phone on ebay. (some loony bid 58quid for it  )
when they have paid me via paypal they have added an extra 40 pounds to the payment...i have received the following from the buyer:

"This item is going to my Husband which is currently in  Nigeria
for a project, I have paid you for this deal to be conclude very fast
with my PAYPAL account and you will receive your payment confirmation
immediately.I would have love to send the item to Nigeria myself but
i'm not presently in UK.I scout for young players and i'm
presently in south america, Brazil to be precise.i have added
40pounds for the shipping via royalmail so that you can help me post
it to the given address, this is the delivery address below

*address in nigeria*

Do get back as soon as you received payment
confirmation from paypal.
Regards,
Michelle "

No.
Could you return the extra cash and send it to the UK address? Would save the hassle of relisting it.

It is a scam! Do not send the item!

Have a read of this - look familiar?

Personally i'd be out of there at the first mention of Nigeria.

I scout for young tottie and am currently in the pub. I would love to give you some actual money, but am skint. Could you please send it to me C/O The Sheaf View along with £200 in used £10 notes and I will give you an unsupported IOU. Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter.

Can't you wait for the money and then to come through then hold the item. They can only claim through Paypal for a limited time anyway (1 month perhaps). OR, send it with recorded/insured mail, so when they go for the scam you can still claim back the cost, you should win either way then.

Or, you could just sack it, it does sound dodgy!

what should i do/what will happen?
since i didnt know that they were going to send me 98quid/ask me to post it to nigeria i theoretically have 98 quid waiting for me to post the phone. when i now dont (because i wont) post it surely ebay/paypal will screw me over?

I have had several scam emails as a result of bidding for stuff on ebay. I have forwarded them to ebay (they have a team to deal with this stuff - real people seem to read and reply) and had helpfull responses from them. I suggest doing this just so you don't risk getting banned/blacklisted etc.
