I spent most of today finding out how completely inept I am at DIY. Can anyone recommend a good plumber who could fit an electric shower to replace our old/dead one? There'd be a bit of plasterwork/tiling to do too so if they were up for this kind of thing too it would be grand.

stu. can recommend this guy. our outside toilet turned into a fountain last week when a pipe cracked and he sorted us out at short notice, he did a good job and seemed like a decent bloke. and i'm very sceptical of all tradesman - the guy who did some wiring for us nicked one of my chocolate bars from a cupboard. i'm not naming any dense loners in particular.

Sounds like you are sorted now, but Sam Whittaker's brother Adam is a plumber.

He's done some work for us, and a lot of work on Sam's new house, so you could consider him next time. He doesn't live in Sheffield, but is down here fairly frequently and I'm much happier leaving someone I know in the house than a stranger.
