Back on topic these fellas have been keeping the thrash vibe going over recent years.  :punk:

Many years ago when they were relatively new I remember watching them in Dudley of all places and there was about 10 people there, I spent most of the time running around the stage with a body board… good times.

Another time was in some tiny place in liverpool with SSS and Evile that was crazy, there was a step ladder in the pit…! They’d not long released The art of partying.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned but Vio-Lence released a new album this year, it’s really good.

Have Arbitrater double album on order. Great stuff! Similar vibes to Sacred Reich but with British accent. Punk sensibilities with a tight thrash sound. The tone of guitar reminds me of Hetfield Ride the Lightning era. Good work, Brutus.

Sacred Reich are still kicking around. A mate from work put me in to their latest album that came out 2019. Well worth a listen.

Thanks for the  suggestions all. Keep em coming! Liked Attic Theory. Had a quick blast the other day... Good stuff. Very musical but still heavy duty. It's all good. Will keep digging.  🤘😖

The vocalist Tony 'Rat' Martin in Arbitrater was in a punk outfit called the Varukers (I believe they have reunited and done some touring recently..) bang on with the punk sensibility. Can always remember my mum in a Welsh accent saying 'there's someone called Rrrrrrrat on the phone for you'
We were all big fans of SR, I still am.  Politically and musically aligned with them boys.  American Way cover was part of our set.

I have been to some decent gigs in Dudley though Luke.  Was the venue called JBs??  Saw Sick Of It All there, blagged onto guest list with a mate who wrote a fanzine.  Amazing gig.. so much energy!

Super psyched to go to a decent heavy gig now.

Yeah thats the one, it was about 14 years ago, was still a good gig even though there was hardly anyone there, bad promotion probably!

I’ve been posting on here for years and i’ve never noticed this thread. Still find it strange to see people talking about Xentrix, Sacred Reich etc.!

Lawnmower Deth released a new album this year, good old skool british thrash comedy.

I was in a Megadeth tribute band for many years in my late teens/early twenties called “Megadeth UK” I left awhile back now but they’re still going strong and would recommend seeing them if they turn up locally.

It's the funny thing about the thrash genre... Loads of us out there living our best lives, without giving the impression that we are into the scene. I rock short hair, no tatts or piercings or anything but the ringing in my ears reminds me I'm fully "Meetaaaal! 🤘😖"

Occasionally I'll see someone in a band t-shirt that I recognise and spend the next 20 minutes talking enthusiastically with a total stranger about bands and the music etc. The only other similar genre I've found is with people into drum & bass who often used to chat if I was wearing a Metalheadz or similar tee shirt.

Anyway. Today for your delectation "Kreator" released an album back in summer. Hate above all else. (Hate über alles.) Blinding thrash with some slightly orchestral moments that don't detract from it being heavy AF. I used to listen to Extreme Aggression BITD a lot, and although they've become more melodic soundwise in a good way, the hate and the venom remain! 🤘😖 The album cover is pretty sick too.

Celtic Frost and Tom G Warrior in todays Guardian!

https://www.theguardian.com/music/2022/oct/25/tom-g-warrior-of-celtic-frost-metal-was-so-limited-we-were-anarchists

Saw them live twice back in ‘day and they were fantastic. When I flogged most of my metal collection as a skint student I hung on their two EPs and Into the Pandemonium. Cracking band.

I rather like this from the clown kings of Swedish metal. Heavier than usual from them.

New Xentrix album has dropped. "Thrash-tastic, mate, not'alf!"

On Spotify I believe too. I'm too tight to get an account though.

Enjoy.

New Mares Of Thrace dropped in spring without anyone telling me, and after a 10 year hiatus and a 50% members change, it's a short but ever-so-sweet belter of groovy twangy sludgy death-doom:

Just check out that lead at 0:49  :punk:

Drop your $6.66 right here: https://maresofthrace.bandcamp.com/album/the-exile

A little dense, dissonant, chaotic and atmospheric blackened death metal, for your enjoyment:

https://listen.20buckspin.com/album/anthronomicon

Quote
Ulthar’s Anthronomicon is a vast labyrinth of charred black metal atmosphere, twisted death metal riffage, dizzying time signatures, harrowing vocals, and unnerving synth work, cloaked in a conceptual shroud of unfathomable cosmic horror.

Of the band’s two new albums, it’s the most accessible one.

I've got a spare ticket for the Canadian madcap metal genius Devin Townsend in Manchester next Friday. PM for info.

Okay so I am not a dedicated Cannibal Corpse fan by a long way, but holy fuck THIS was brilliant last night (along with some other mid-paced stuff):

Just love the chugging rhythm with the switch between vocals and solos with no change in pace.

I've been out of metal for a while (been enjoying industrial jungle and old skool gabber too much), but this is great, earthy and groovy:

New Godflesh this summer, sounding more Godflesh than Godflesh. A bit like 2014's A World Lit Only By Fire, it's a bit of "Pure but with actual bass", which is just how it should be  :devil-smiley:
