Been catching up on some releases in the last couple of years with a nicely varied selection:

https://enslavery.bandcamp.com/releases
Actually this one is brand new, just proper weighty catchy death metal with good pacing.

https://hathnj.bandcamp.com/album/of-rot-and-ruin
Very good epic semi-blackened death metal in the spirit of Behemoth with slightly less pantomine and a few more melodic sections, which works well.

https://deadborn.bandcamp.com/album/dogma-anti-god
Nice fierce semi-technical death metal with precision and complexity that don't overwhelm strong catchy tracks. If Allegeon had evolved to be heavier and more riff-orientated rather than lighter and twangier, this is what you'd get.

https://cadaveric-incubator.bandcamp.com/album/sermons-of-the-devouring-dead
Filthy yet accessible old-skool style death-grind with frantic punky pacing and vocals straight from the sewer - but also some varied moments with snippets of surf-style leads and occasional slower sections. One for training psyche.

I'm rather looking forward to the next album from these guys. Darker than previously, which is nice.

I don't do much black metal, but I've really been liking this:

https://andoceans.bandcamp.com

Certified as "too fierce for Mark20", it's a proper thunderous wall of machine-gun blastbeats and soaring lead melodies, starting off almost painfully intense and evolving into more epic terrain.

I’ve been listening to lots of music by the Nyege Nyege Tapes record label from Kampala in Uganda. They’ve been pushing out really amazing music from Nairobi, Uganda and nearby for the last couple of years.

This new one by Duma is flippin’ great.  Totally intense Afro hardcore punk, metal, trap, techno and industrial noise.

Well now  :o  I might have to check that out :)
Edit: Definitely some speedcore in the melting pot too....

On the totally intense tip, the new album by Slamchester's LEECHED is....

https://leeched.bandcamp.com/album/to-dull-the-blades-of-your-abuse

....pretty much every "negative" under the sun: Dark, bleak, angry, hostile, brutal, aggressive, nihilistic - truly music for our times. And very good.

Kings of SLAMchester, Ingested, have just dropped their latest album and it's a scorcher:

One of the more melodic tracks got a dual seal-of-approval from Andy F and mark20, with a pretty evocative video:

Brand new from Australia and crunchier than an oven-baked block of Beta chalk....

Just came across this band. Death (Fiend will like the name at least).  ;D

Three brothers from 70s Detroit that recorded a punk album before punk was really a thing. Really interesting story.

And even better music.

Just had this recommended on Bandcamps Metal September 2020 round-up. Rich, luxuriant, cavernous blackened death metal. Already seems rather nice indeed.

Edit: Cheers for that sxrxg, not a fan of the breakdown myself but I like the start and the high speed barked vocals. Slam / core stuff I've liked recently has included Osiah, Within Destruction, and Despised Icon of course.

This weekend I've mostly been liking Swiss cosmological bleakness themed ambient black metal : https://avantgardemusic.bandcamp.com/album/dark-space-iii-i - a fine blend of dark ambient passages, groovy traditional riffs and atmospheric black metal frenzy.

Nice. I like the crossover with the electronic sounds, reminds me of my old favourite Windir

Amazing outro

I've also been listening to some more ambient black metal recently eg Wolves in the Throne Room

Also, more on the more ambient, electronic and folky side of things, the youtube channel "dungeon synth archives" has some lovely stuff. Maybe not extreme enough for your good self, but might be good vibes for painting orcs to

Been enjoying the new offering from Mr Bungle - The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny.  Rather than the usual randomized mix of musical styles, it's pretty much straight down the line thrash.  They've got Dave Lombardo and Scott Ian on board which can only be a good thing.

Well this is a very welcome surprise. I've been listening to a LOT of jungle recently (Samurai Records, Skeleton Records, Rupture London), and for a change last night followed some Bandcamp links and found this epic album of hauntingly heavy blackened death (the tone of which reminds me of one of my favourite tracks - Disentomb's Collapsing Skies).

Well now!

Anyone for heavily distorted, politically active, instrumental drone metal?? Thought so....

Pretty sure some of you lot might like this. First track is a beauty.

Anyone wonder what would happen if PJ Harvey did heavy sludge doom instead of indie rock?? Yeah, got you covered: https://bigbravesl.bandcamp.com/album/vital

Sometimes you look back on life and wonder.... How the fuck did that happen? A phone call, an audition not long after, still in my teens, I ended up on tour with a band supporting the mighty Bolt Thrower.  Lasting memories of lovely people and witnessing those lovely people smash it everytime out in every venue we visited. Great band, full of energy and power but still grounded. Legends.
