OK I want to stretch this thread by including my other love (the 1st being Zeni Geva). This is SHELLAC - who may not grind, but their guitarist is very good at playing guitar w/his teeth and has personally recorded over 2000 LP's (of all genres) in his job as a recording engineer; as is their bassist.

This is the best vid of them that exists.

Glad you are down with QOTSA, thought it may be a bit mainstream for this thread. Was trying to find some Kyuss to add too, but there isn't anything really good on youtube.

And now the threads a little wider...

Eagles Of Death Metal (spot the irony)

My favourite QOTSA, featuring Dave G

Old school riffing

...and finally kneel - you're in the presence of greatness:

If this thread is about anything it is about The Guitar.

Witness Duane Denison of The Jesus Lizard & his aluminium-necked Travis Bean tearin' it up on Nub (from the LP GOAT)

And once more from a later period in their all-too-short history

(The bassist is ex-Scratch Acid/Rapeman - that's one mean bitch-ass legacy folks)

Jesus Lizard - Destroy Before Reading

Oh lordy The Jesus Lizard were fucking untouchable!

Jesus Lizard - Puss          (They performed this on TOTP  :o)

Give me something to stop the bleeding

They were also blessed w/an exceptionally gifted drummer, Mac McNeilly (for me it's always been the rhythm section which make the difference in music, in particular the drums.)

I like Metallica up to and including the Black Album.  They did chug riffs, but they certainly didn't invent them.

Slightly off, but Therapy?-  Teethgrinder (the only song of theirs I don't mind too much)

Dismember- Casket Garden (arguably their only decent tune)  And I love this tune

What was the band that had an album cover with a clown on?  It was OK but for the life of my I can't remember names.  Houd?

Old stuff, that arguably started a genre:

Venom-  Welcome to Hell (yeah they were rubbish, but for the time they had some cool ideas)
Again, skip to 2:00 if you get bored.

Bathory-  A Fine Day To Die (long intro, skip to 1:40 if you get bored)

OK slight change of tack

Rammstein - Ohne dich (Without you)

I can't be w/out you but if I'm w/you I'm still alone.  How sad . . .   Und die Vogel singen nicht mehr. . .

Fraudini is looking @ me w/something close to puzzlement.  Here in the Reich, Rammstein went through a period of being known as ambiguous racists.  Though that was something they never commmented upon.  The singer has a vast chamber of a chest & he's very good at holding basso notes.  A great German voice, though it's a language you really must know before one can say that.

More German romanticism

Rammstein - Rosenrot (Rose-red)

I find them very touching; but I'm a romantic fool.

And once more für Glück

Rammstein - Sonne complete

You've got to hand it to Rammstein, the imagery in their videos is quite something.  Die frauen are all utterly ravishing & I for one would do anything Snow White asked of me  . . .  :-*

Recorded on some shitty 4 track.  Enjoy.

Is that your band?  Hi Velocity Weaponry?

Mine was Thin Lash, thankfully few recordings survive.

Well, it was me and a drum machine.  I was going to call myself either Headcleaner or Tenesmus.  I've got hours and hours of that shit on tape.

Thankfully Thin Lashs' brand of scuzz-filth never made it to LP - though The Scrapie Tapes persist, somewhere, I think in Norfolk . . .

The other band I was in before I was ejected for ah, unreasonable behaviour went on to record a half-decent 12" that was played on R1 a few times by Steve Lamanc and later John Peel.  Lost to time now.

The side project Anal Haemorrhages' (proto fuzzbass & drum outfit) extremely obscure tape recordings exist but it's best never see the light of day . . .

On hearing my throat singing in the shower today Fraudini suggested I cure our financial ills and start a black metal band . . .

Maybe now the time is right for a Thin Lash reunion?  Must dust the bass down, and find that fuzz pedal . . .

By-the-by GC I rather like the H V W  track above, particularly when the double kicks come in at the start and the trem-nonsense later on.

 ;)

Whilst I love Primus, I'd hardly class them as metal.
That's an interesting collection you have.

What was the band that had an album cover with a clown on?  It was OK but for the life of my I can't remember names.  Houd?

Cancer-  Black Faith

Thanks for your help in aiding my memory  ::)

The Black Faith album was shit, but the earlier stuff wasn't bad.
