Even I, in my current ridiculously tired state, drifted up the escalator (albeit slowly) today as I refuse to stand still on escalators.

People who only eat "English food"; assuming that a potato-based diet can be considered English.

And the parents who fail to give their children healthy variety in their diets, who grow up into twentysomething flabbies, which we must all pay for come-the-day.

Either we kill the fatties, or we abolish the NHS.  I say we do both.

Or just tax all fat, over processed, beige food in the same way we tax cigarettes and alcohol! Bring on the BMI Tax :greed:

I don't actually worry about working on bank holidays - all the crags are heaving and the weather is usually rubbish.

I work a lot of bank holidays because I only get paid for the hours I do but this flexibility means that I can fuck off from work at two to go climbing on any given day. I don't mind the trade! Better than being stuck with 9-5 fo sho.

Can I nominate people who forget to double up on staff for rainy Bank Holidays. I've actually had to interact with customers today.

Indeed - it's a not all one-way traffic though chief, think of those of us that have had to interact with you too... ;) ;)

Britain.  Is.  Shit.

It costs me £65 from Peterborough to Leeds by train or £20 Stansted to Hamburg.  Britain is an atrocious mess.  You're fucked.

Hey - and dont forget that £65 does not include a seat - or necessarily the chance to get something to eat/drink or have a piss...

Basically they've pulled a fast one with train ticket prices. You used to be able to get all sorts of different types of ticket which meant that if you used trainline or somesuch you could shop around and not pay too much. Now they've "simplified" the system so that there are only three types of ticket, that aint possible. As an example, the last time me and the Mrs went to visit friends in Edinburgh by train it cost £80 for both of us. She went on her own a couple of weeks ago and despite booking weeks in advance the cheapest ticket was £90 just for her.

Also, looking at a solo trip to Font later this year, I considered a leisurely journey via train / Eurostar until I checked the prices. Eurostar to Paris can be about £60, no problem. Sheffield to London c£100!! WHAT!? MAN - CDG same dates c£65 inc taxes. No fucking brainer.

It's a total fucking joke.

But they will give you a couple of grand to trade in your reasonably fuel efficient car for a potentially slightly more fuel efficient car. Subsidise public transport ffs.

I don't disagree with this sentiment, but its akin to comparing apples and pears.

Out of curiosity, how much would a similar distance train journey cost in Frauland?
