External Hard Drive Help!
December 30, 2010, 12:48:35 am
Just plugged in my WD 1TB hard drive and it's given me the message 'you need to format the disk in drive f: before you can use it.' Formatting it is the last thing I want to do as it has a lot of important files on there. Is there any way of recovering these files? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried it in another computer?

I had this error with my WD Passport post computer motherboard failure. It didn't need it in the end I just plugged it in elsewhere. Failing that try a live CD and see if you can access it using that.

I have just recovered a corrupted hard drive for a friend using: easeus data recovery wizard pro.
I managed to recover some data and then I formatted it and managed to recover nearly all the data.
good program
