Neil - Where exactly is your gite?  Don't/won't drive so always looking for places very very close to the climbing.  What sort of accomodation are you offering?

As the crow flys its about 800 meters from buthiers massif. The property smack in the forest was way too expensive so we had to go out a little further, but we have rocks on our doorstep. Its only 15 mins to the main forest carparks of rocher sabots and all those areas, 5 mins to elephant and if you drive less than 2 minutes to buthiers.

I know its not ideal for the main forest but after a lot of research from climbers and how far they are willing to drive i thinks its perfect.

Staight away we will have one complete brand new apprtment sleeping 4 ready to go, and within a few weeks will have a 2 bed house ready,

Unc has already bagged the 1 bed studio for the rest of his life, or untill i kick out.

Then hopefully sometime in the new year we will start work on the rest of the complex, undicided what do at present, I have 3 big rooms for converstion, about 140 square meters. maybe 2 appartments, or one big one.

Im going to steer clear of B&B but as I am a word class chef, i might offer some cook ups and things like that, but in a nut shell gite accom self catering but with use of all the facilities, on the complex

this sounds very good indeed! very close to the bar at damme jouanne. well done.
as far as distance is concerned that is no bother, much better than staying in the F1 at moret. ill contact you closer to the time if i can get out during the easter holidays.
well done, and good luck with the move!

I dont think you could pay 10% more, he is having it for free, but Im going to work him like a dog, gimp suite and whip at hand.........

He's going wish he never became a climber by the time i have finished   :P

It will be very kiddy friendly as i have a 4 year old myself, the whole complex is is walled so you can just let the little nippers run around.... I will be putting a tree house type playground for the boy down the bottom of the garden and a baby climbing wall

i saw a whole team of MTB'ers at Buthiers the other day. there looks to be "official" tracks there. more to the point the roads look good (pretty flat obviously), plenty of boyos out on expensive carbon things last week. i had a look through the window of a very expensive but nice bike shop in font t'other night too. remember to ride on the right!

Often use a rented bike to get around. Not exactly MTB though as it tends to be flat.
Other week there was a group actually riding on the boulders at Canon although I don't know what circuit
they were doing (hope it was an easy one). :)

Can confirm the mountain biking is tres bon. Done a few great rides round some of the GR walking routes, lots of twisty fast stuff on hardpacked sand (quick in the wet too) with some great steeper flowing sections over the bouldery bits, but then you had probably guessed that!

ps. the house sounds ace neil, hope to sample the wares and good luck fending of hordes of brits!
