According to UKC. Haven't been but presume this has to be good news.

Looks that way, unless the BMC start charging or you need to book time on a problem. I would like to reserve Big Marine for 10am on Friday please.

Yes, all been bought and paid for now. There'll be a story up on the BMC website soon, but I think that climbing is now permitted. There were a few restrictions that the owners were very insistent about - no dogs, no music and no climbing ater sunset - but other than that it all seems good to go.

Give me a PM if you're going and I may join you.  Been a long time and it's time I got myself spanked by Longridge again.   :spank:

I am assuming that no littering, no shitting / pissing and no shouting and swearing would also apply, as they are all common sense, but worth mentioning.

Out of interest how far from the base of the crag does BMC land stretch?  Is it going to be trespassing when I botch the last move on Big Marine?

Just to confirm - yes the BMC owns Longridge now.  Our land is a narrow strip extending 3m outwards from the top of the crag i.e. 4-4.5m out from the base.  The total cost - purchase, legal fees, fencing etc will be approx. £15000.00.  About £4000.00 was raised by local climbers 1-2 yrs ago - the rest has been paid for by the BMC.  We're planning to do some ground levelling work in the next few weeks.  We had to agree to a list of conditions as part of the deal - no dogs, no climbing after sunset, no loud music - are the main ones.  We're arranging a bit of a social in a local pub (for everyone who gave money to the Longridge appeal and anyone else keen) sometime before Xmas so keep a watch out on www.thebmc.co.uk

...and by the way - buying crags like Longridge is only possible because of membership subscriptions.  If the BMC hadn't stepped in the owner planned to bull doze earth/rubble up against it and it'd have been lost for good. Its worth joining the BMC.
