A bit late in announcing but Thomas Henry was born on Dec 29th; our first and at 9lbs 13.5oz possibly our last if my wife has anything to do with it. He seems to be aiming for a Dunne-esque build as he has put on 11oz in the last week. Totally unlike his father then.

Just wait till they're teenagers, then you won't think they're so bloody cute.

Seriously, massive congrats all round.

I was planning to give her away when she got to 11, is this not allowed?

Rob, I got one of those pop-up tent thingys, great idea. Been back up to the plantation today, lovely. I'm so pleased, I'm getting so much more done than I thought I would, and starting to feel a bit stronger again.

Babies are great, just don't want to go back to work - maybe i should stay home and be poor  :devangel:

Eleven months, can't walk but spends most of his time trying to get on things...

Good flexibility, but please explain to him the finer points of mantelling techniques and why using knees is just not acceptable.

I hadn't seen it as a problem; Uncle8b gets his knees on every ascent.

Knees are totally acceptable; especially when rocking such a strong look while using them, are they baby legwarmers or just the coolest trousers ever?  8)

Legwarmers; solution to growing out of trousers too quickly. Though it isn't really my department, there is a lot of really great baby clothing these days.

There is and it's even better when bin bags full of top quality stuff comes to you for free (courtesy of grumpycrumpy).

I might point out that it's stuff handed down from his son rather than him thieving to order for me from Baby Gap.

I can't actually believe they are legwarmers!!  Brilliant.  You have no idea how oddly pleased that makes me.

I've only got really shit vids on my old phone and his bar of choice (the high chair) is now redundant and put away as he sits at the table. I'll see if I can persuade him that using the bar on his trampoline is as much fun and get back to you.

Took Sharpe Jr to The Works yesterday morning and for the first time he showed some interest in climbing something there rather than just charging round and round on the mats. With a bit of assistance he made it to the top of the kids wall twice (much to Mrs Sharpe's terror) and even managed a few moves unaided (including the top out). His mantling skills put some beasts on here to shame. Later we went for a walk down Millers Dale and he pointed at a small buttress next to Culloden and said "I climb that bit". Not bad for 2yrs 3 months. Good lad.

was in N-cliff park this weekend and noticed in the new playground theres a couple of fake boulders for the binlids - looks well plastic. i'll be psyched for some of that once the anklebiter is ripping it up. its interesting to see how kids climb naturally when unimpeded with all that climbing-wall 3 points of contact bullshit.

photo from when it was being built:

Yeah they're good. Get a tad busy with budding boulderers at the weekend though. Probably best to go early morning for the good conditions the place not to be quite so rammed.

maybe someone should start a twitter page for the conditions report. I can hang out of our bedroom window with some binos and check the busy-ness rating.

i notice there's also some bolt-ons on the side of the big slide, combined with the old stone traversing wall under oakbrook road it could be the ultimate 3-venue mini-me training setup.

... he pointed at a small buttress next to Culloden and said "I climb that bit".

Was he claiming an ascent, or merely expressing a desire to complete a future ascent? If it is the former, what grade did he propose?

I pointed out to him that it is very important to understand the difference between something which you would like to do and something which you have actually done.
