Memento Repeated
September 06, 2007, 03:41:37 pm
Quote from: 8a.nu
Bernhard Schwaiger has done Memento, 8C+ at Silvretta.

Berni reports: "After a short visit last fall, where I just took a visual impression of the really genius and cool line with small edges in steep terrain, it took me six more visits (distributed to seven weeks) this summer until I was able to link the seven moves, including the extremely hard jump from a very tiny edge to a hidden hold."

Looks like a cool problem but that video is terrible, it doesn't show him doing what look like the two hardest moves!

Yeah it's like it's been really badly chopped together to "prove" that he's done it. Not that I'm saying he hasn't, it just looks shit........and the problem looks about 7b.

I think the lack of video footage of the crux move is testament to how hard it is. He obviously couldn't repeat it for the video...

dense... just how big is that shit stirrer of yours?  ;)

Well, Memento has been repeated again by some unheard of 19 year old called Kornelius Obleitner. The most amusing thing about it is that his previous hardest boulder was 8A+. So, 8A+ to possible 8C+ is one fell sweep!  :o :-\

He's suggested 8C but that means nothing when you have nothing to compare to (in my opinion). The most impressive thing is that he climbed it!

Sounds like one of those p0rnstar names derived by taking the name of your first pet combined with your mother's maiden name.

Mine would be Harry Ferguson, which sounds more like a farmer than a star of the "cum dancing" field of entertainment.  My only hope would be if beastiality films required realism regarding the names of their cow-pokes!

That is a brave and honourable ambition to pin your hopes on  ;)

I would recommend against posting your mother's maiden name on an internet forum as it's so commonly used for security password type stuff. Sorry if this sounds stupidly paranoid, it's just something that banks and the like recommend.

Moose is ok though as he's so cowardly nobody knows his true persona.  ;)

Theres also that one where you work out your robot-name. simply combine the name on your creditcard with the long number on the centre of the card, then stick on the expiry date and the last 3 digits on the back. Come on guys, post up, this'll be AWESOME.

Are you Nigerian?

Anyway, back to Memento - I agree with Unc - the downgrade from Kornelius Dopplewanger does not stand - he has no reference. From an outside pov, surely it brings into question whether the problem is indeed as hard as it is supposed to be?

Or, perhaps, like Paul B, he has sold his soul to the devil to get up it and will now suffer three bouts of bad luck involving fire and pestilence. Or perhaps he is lying.

Is there any info of how to get here.   Each time I type in Silvretta, a get a load of bollocks about weather, geographics and skiing.  On the side line, my pr0n name would be Jaws Raw - winner. 8)

Couldn't find anything on Fischhuber's site. However on his blog (http://ameblo.jp/akitobrologue3/ ) Matsushima says that he "frankly cannot understand the grade".

Fucking hell!   :o Matsushima looks far and away the strongest on that thing. He moves right past the go-again on the first move and simply pissed the final move off that tiny crimp. Either he's utterly mutant or the holds are much bigger than they used to be.

Has you lad Ty had a go at Memento yet? Would be interesting to see how quickly he dispatched it given he's done virtually everything else on the Continent this year.
