ive had a quick look, there must be a service where i can give them a postcode/grid ref and they can print me a map with it bang in the middle. anyone done this/know how i can get it done.

thanking you!

That's very cool, I can see a few christmas presents coming from that site.

if you know anyone who works for the local council/peak park/planning department/waterboard/etc you could probably get a custom map that way cos most of them buy-in the OS data for whatever mapping software they use. admitedly its a long shot though.

You can get it as a jigsaw puzzle too. I have one of the area round us that I got last Christmas, but still not put it together, so it makes navigation while driving difficult, as i just sit there with the bag full of jigsaw pieces in my lap, and rummage around for the pieces I need.

We got given one of those OS maps with our house as the centrer. It's very cool, and comes in a rather natty orange box and you can give the map a name. Hurrah.

Is there anyway you can get a map like those ace hand drawn ones from the Tolkien novels?  e.g. recaptioning it a bit, the Misty Mendips and Here Be Dragons in the severn (or in Cardiff Bay) down here?

You can but those in many "antique" shops.
