anyone had any dealings with dban on a vista platform. I cant seem to get it to work, works fine on my old comp with XP


need to wipe a drive to flog my computer

according to its spec's it doesn't support vista
try something else like this
there are loads of free disc erase utils out there

If you want to use an overwrite tool, you could always use Eraser instead? That is Vista compatible, but it's not free.

Or for a different approach, use Secure Erase which doesn't overrrite data but uses the secure erase function build into the ATA specification. This is free and is considered more secure (NSA say so apparantly) but is more complicated to use.

All ATA hard disk drives connected to the main system board will be identified and their information displayed. Make sure that the jumpers on the hard disk drives are correctly configured. Avoid setting the jumpers to CS (cable select) on the hard disk drives. Master or slave jumper setting is preferred.

...then you're probably better off using an overwrite tool.
