You can still climb at the mo, it has to be pretty damn bad before it gets really wet. It is more often showery and everything dries so quick, I have been out loads lately, no worries, but it is sweaty!!

Anyone know what the weather's been like there recently?

I'm going in a couple of weeks. Know conditions will probably be shocking but not too bothered as I will only be puntering about on 7aish stuff. Just hoping it's not pissing it down really especially as I'm taking the Mrs & bebe.

 :)

We're going on the 10th when it looks like the temperature goes balistic. >:(

Still, as long as it doesn't rain....

Have a good one!

Anyone who featured in the hallowed book attains at least demigod status.

Merely confirming my current status as a punter. It's all relative though I know. Wasn't trying to sound like a twat. :)

Well that was a surprise. Font in the middle of August and the only thing that stopped us climbing was a day of rain?! Pretty nice apart from that and not too hot at all. The woman who runs the new bar in Larchant was bemoaning the worst summer in years (as was my Mrs) but it was good for the bouldering only getting to about 25 degrees most days. You could climb all day (if you were fitter than me) and some of the harder things I dragged my weak ass up were done at the warmest time of day.

An interesting point we noted whilst there is that although everyone in England seems to balk at the idea of Font at this time of year, the conditions (even if it had been hotter) are better than at most British venues (notwithstanding that this year there has been no summer here).

There is so much variety that you can avoid conditions dependent stuff or just drop your grade a bit and tick loads of classics. Obviously top level stuff on slopers is out of the question but it's still way better than losing all your skin on impossible greasy gritstone.

And it's the greatest bouldering venue on earth. I'm back at work today feeling very depressed. :(
