Load of balls
August 09, 2007, 01:23:07 pm
Just been flicking through the new edition of Climber and I see that Panton has copyrighted the term shortball, Greg thought up longball the other month and we already had highball as a descriptive term in bouldering.  So, what other balls can we think up?

Could the term fur ball be used to describe problems that have a rather healthy coating of lichen or moss?

Is a fly ball a problem with a high quota of biting insects nearby?  (As well as a baseball term).

Would a bouncingball be a problem with plenty of loose rock falling from it?

Are softballs found on southern sandstone?

Discuss (or not as the case may be).

I'm keen for flyball to pertain towards a cool problem. Mind you, that could just as easily be dopeball or illball.

Beach-ball - Er...problem on a beach

...or at Secret Garden.

Canonball - a photogenic problem.

Havinaball - an enjoyable problem.

Dodgeball - Problem with an american car inconveniently parked underneath.

Cindersyoushallgototheball - Outstanding problem where a badly dressed relatively unknown climber (cohabiting with two visually disagreable female siblings) can rise to fame, send the problem above a bouldering mat made out of a pumpkin, spotted by mice, only to find at the stroke of midnight they're magically transported back to obscurity, back to mooching around knee-deep in bovine excrement doing downhill chipped eliminate traverses at almscliff dressed like a vagrant above a beaten-down old Megagrip mat. Johnny Dawes stars as the Fairy God Mutha, fucker.

Parry Ball    A parry ball is a brief, succinct story, in prose or verse, that illustrates a moral or religious lesson.  They involve a strong lad cranking out sick hard problems or winning high level competitions and contain a profound lesson on how to use you feet wisely.
Amen.
