Microsoft Media Server  protocol is Microsoft's proprietary network streaming protocol.

Never knew it existed - is it supposed to be an alternative to real stuff?

What sort of night was Insomniacz Dobbin?

Yeah, and for once it comes free out of the box with Windows 2000 server and up. You can host Windows Media files on an on demand basis on a normal HTTP server but the Windows media protocols allow you to do things like Multicasts - so as to limit your bandwidth utilisation if you have many clients. I ran a limited pilot here for business television with great success.

InsomniacZ was (is) Sheffield's legendary hard house club, it started as a carry on from Gatecrasher when that was in its hey day and used to run out of Uropa (across the road from GC) from 4am - 12 on Sunday mornings. I went to the first and then every week thereafter for months. Then it moved to Corporation, hard house went from the bouncy to the dark and I got back into climbing. As I understand it Insoms is back in sheffield on a monthly basis and every week in Brum.

Ah, the folly of youth.
